Harrisonburg/Rockingham County art teachers to exhibit work at Bridgewater College

Elementary and secondary art teachers from Harrisonburg and Rockingham County public schools will exhibit “Artists Who Teach Art” Jan. 2 – Feb. 5 in the Cleo Driver Miller Art Gallery at Bridgewater College.

bridgewaterAn artists’ reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3 in the Miller Gallery. The reception and exhibition are open to the public at no charge.

The exhibition, which features work created by the teachers outside the classroom, includes ceramics, painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed-media, photography and stained glass.

The show includes works by the following artists: Jauan Brooks, Kim Floyd, Robin Goble, Barbara Gautcher, Petra Huffman, Pamela Iwanicki, Kathleen Johnson, Jenna Longenecker, Martha Maddox, Al Marcovitz, Samantha Ritter, Mary Shaffer, Cynthia Shank, Kelly Shradley-Horst, Hannah Sions, Brandy Somers, Kristi Strine, Lori Swortzel, Sarah Beth Taylor, Laura Thompson, Tracy West and Rebecca Wishon.

The Miller Gallery is located on the second floor of the Alexander Mack Memorial Library. The Gallery is open8 a.m. to midnight Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 to 11 p.m. Sunday.

Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to approximately 1,850 undergraduate students.
