Amber Shepherd, a single mom who works at Lowe’s, signed the papers to own her own home this week. Shepherd is the 67th Habitat partner that has been served through the Habitat home building and repair partnership program.
Habitat is now working with its 70th partner.
Shepherd completed over 250 hours of volunteer sweat equity working on this and other Habitat homes, helping out at the Habitat ReStore, and studying in the Habitat classroom to learn about financial stewardship and home ownership.
Over 300 hours and dozens of individuals came together to volunteer their time and talent to refurbish this 11 year-old home in Staunton to make it like new for the family.
