Bob Goodlatte has a million and a half dollar warchest to pull from as the Sixth District campaign heats up in midsummer.

This is according to a campaign-finance report filed by the Republican with the Federal Election Commission this week.

Goodlatte, the incumbent in the race, has raised $895,093 in the 2008 election cycle, which began Jan. 1, 2007. His campaign reported spending in the amount of $591,803 in the election cycle.

Because of transfers from previous years’ campaign accounts, Goodlatte had $1.5 million cash on hand as of June 30.

Democratic Party challenger Sam Rasoul, meanwhile, had raised $180,388 as of June 30, according to his campaign report.

The Rasoul campaign reported spending in the amount of $109,696 dating back to the start of the campaign cycle in January 2007.

Rasoul had $82,845 cash on hand as of June 30.
