Gio Gonzalez was roughed up in a brief stint in a 7-3 Washington Nationals loss at Atlanta on Saturday.
Gonzalez (11-10, 4.48 ERA, 1.30 WHIP) gave up six runs on nine hits in four and a third innings, striking out seven.
Rookie Trea Turner (.356/.377/.585, 11 HR, 34 RBI) hit a pair of solo homers for the Nats (88-60). Turner was 3-for-4 on the day and stole his 27th base in 59 games on the season.
The loss leaves the Nats’ magic number to clinch the NL East at six.
