Gio Gonzalez won his 100th career game, Daniel Murphy recorded his 500th career RBI – it was a night of big numbers for the Washington Nationals.
The Nats got six good innings out of Gonzalez and homers from Murphy and Jayson Werth in an 8-5 win over the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.
Washington (75-53) also saw Bryce Harper (.254/.388/.466, 22 HR, 72 RBI) continue his recent resurgence, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In 13 games since Harper returned from a stint on the bench with a stiff neck, he has hit .440/.525/.720, with 22 hits in 50 at bats, nine walks, two homers and 15 RBI.
Gonzalez (9-9, 4.25 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) had a nice, efficient outing in the win, giving up two runs on four hits in six innings, striking out five and walking one.
