Winners and Losers column by Chris Graham

WINNER: Sean Glennon
I blasted Glennon for his juvenile response to being benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor last month – but give the kid credit.
He looked better than ever in his relief appearance at Duke on Saturday – and rightly has inserted himself back into the mix at quarterback as the Hokies head into a murderer’s row of games that starts at home next Thursday night against #2 Boston College.
I have to wonder if I would want to start a true freshman against BC, at Georgia Tech, at home against Miami and FSU, then on the road at Virginia – when I have somebody like Glennon who at least has been through the wars before.

WINNER AND LOSER: Jameel Sewell
Credit where credit is due – Sewell has led Virginia on back-to-back game-winning fourth-quarter drives against Middle Tennessee and Connecticut.
Blame where blame is due – if only he would be more consistent in quarters one through three and three-quarters, maybe the ‘Hoos wouldn’t need to get late-game heroics from their leader.

LOSERS: Redskins might lose up to three-fifths of their already-rebuilt offensive line
That 17-14 loss at Green Bay was demoralizing for more than the way the ‘Skins ended up on the wrong side of the score.
How about losing your starting right tackle and his backup to injury – after having already lost your opening-game starting right tackle and guard in weeks one and two?
It’s starting to look like another wait-’til-next-year kind of year in D.C.

WINNER: Norfolk State beats Hampton, ranked for first time in decade
It was so bad that NSU coach Pete Adrian had taken to calling the annual Battle of the Bay game “The Slaughter of the Bay.”
But that was before the Spartans won 20-19 on Saturday to post their first triumph in the series in six years – and entered the national rankings for the first time since the last century.
