George Lucas, Star Wars and Hollywood film mythology to be explored at Bridgewater College

film2Jonathan Atkins, a 1996 graduate of Bridgewater College, will speak about the influence George Lucas and the Star Wars films have had on Hollywood film mythology at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, in Cole Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Atkins earned a master’s degree in English with a concentration in cross-disciplinary studies from Kansas State University.

Atkins is an adjunct instructor at Bridgewater College and has taught at Blue Ridge Community College. He was the English/Humanities instructor at both the Shenandoah Valley and Massanutten Regional Governor’s schools.

He owned and operated a comic book shop for more than four years.

Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to more than 1,800 undergraduate students.
