Waynesboro got home runs from Brandon Murray, Anthony Iacomini and Austin Johnston and six and a third innings of solid work from the bullpen in a 12-5 pasting of Luray Saturday night.

Starter Garrett Baugh was staked to an early 6-0 lead after a six-run second highlighted by a leadoff homer from Johnston, his second of the season, but was lifted after giving up twospots in the second and third.

John Sabelle (1-2) picked up the win in an inning and a third of relief.

Murray’s homer, his ninth of the season, ties him for the Valley League lead with Winchester’s Joseph Odom.

Julian Ridings had a hit in two at-bats to lift his VBL-leading batting average to .451 heading into the All-Star break.

Catcher Tyrone Smith had three hits and three RBI for Waynesboro, which improved to 19-9 and takes a one-game lead in the South Division into the break.

The Generals return to action on Tuesday at home against second-place Harrisonburg.
