Game time announced for UVA football home opener
As part of the announcement of early-season football television selections, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced today the UVA 2016 home opener against Richmond on Saturday, Sept. 3 will start at 3:30 p.m. and be broadcast by ESPN3. Tickets to the Virginia-Richmond game in upper level end zone seat locations are $12 each for this game. Tickets in other areas of the stadium are $35-$45 for the home opener.
“Bronco Mendenhall and his coaching staff have brought a lot of excitement, energy and enthusiasm to the program,” said Todd Goodale, senior associate athletics director for external affairs. “The ticket offer for the home opener is an incentive for fans to be a part of a new era of UVA football. For those who may not have been to Scott Stadium in recent years, we would like to invite them to come back and support the team.”
Single-game tickets for all six 2016 Virginia football home games go on sale to the public online at VirginiaSports.com on Friday, May 20 at 9 a.m. Ticket sales by phone and in-person begin Monday, May 23 at 9 a.m. Current football season ticket holders and Virginia Athletics Foundation donors may purchase tickets now in advance of the public sale.
The Cavaliers’ Youth Day game will be on Saturday, Sept. 24 when Virginia hosts Central Michigan. Youth in eighth grade and under will be able to participate in activities throughout the concourse, receive a free promotional item, and enter to win raffle prizes throughout the game. Tickets range from $25-$45 for this game depending upon seat location. Cavman’s Crew members will have an opportunity to purchase tickets at a discounted rate when enrollment begins in July.
The Homecomings match-up with Pitt begins a stretch of three consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference home games on Saturday, Oct. 15. A group ticket offer is available through the UVA Alumni Association for its members. The Cavaliers host North Carolina on Oct. 22, Louisville on Oct. 29, and close the home schedule on Saturday, Nov. 12 vs. Miami. The contest against the Hurricanes will be Senior Day and Military Appreciation Day. Active duty and former military personnel are eligible to purchase tickets at a discounted rate.
Tickets for the home games against Pitt, North Carolina, Louisville, and Miami are $35, $40, $50, $55 and $60 depending on the seat location. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more people for all games.
Cavalier Value Package tickets are available for the games with Central Michigan, Pitt, North Carolina, Louisville, and Miami and include an upper level end zone ticket and an $8 concessions voucher that can be redeemed at any concessions stand at Scott Stadium. Cavalier Value Packs are $25 each for the Central Michigan game and $35 each for the home games against ACC opponents.
Tickets can be purchased online at VirginiaSports.com. In-person or telephone purchases can be made by calling 1-800-542-UVA1 (8821) or locally at 434-924-UVA1 (8821) or in-person at the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office in Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium.
The start times and broadcast assignments for Virginia’s games at Oregon (Sept. 10) and Connecticut (Sept. 17) will be released by the Pac-12 Conference and American Athletic Conference, respectively, at a later date.
After the first three weeks of the season, game times and TV network selections will be announced weekly with the ACC’s television partners making their choices utilizing a 12-day advance notice beginning Monday, Sept. 12 (for games on Saturday, Sept. 24). ACC television partners also reserve the right to use a six-day selection notice on a limited basis during the season.
