Free Hebrew classes offered in Harrisonburg, Staunton

temple houseA free five-week introductory Hebrew course is being taught by Rabbi Joe Blair, spiritual leader of Temple House of Israel and Congregation Beth El.

Open to all interested participants, the course will meet for five classes, from 3-6 pm on Sundays, at Congregation Beth El, 830 Old Furnace Road, Harrisonburg, 22802, starting October 5th, and at Temple House of Israel, 15 N. Market Street, Staunton, 24401, starting November 9th (no class November 30th due to the Thanksgiving holiday).

This course will cover the Hebrew Alphabet, Vowels, pronunciation, grammar rules, and a basic vocabulary related to liturgy. Those who successfully complete the course are expected to be able to decode/sound out any Hebrew they encounter. The course is not intended to provide conversational ability or comprehension of literary, Biblical, or modern Hebrew.

Pre-registration is not required. Simply attend the first class of either session.
