Former R-Braves, Red Sox skipper Grady Little featured at Hot Stove Banquet

richmond-squirrelsThe Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, announced that special baseball guests Grady Little, Josh Osich, Steve Kline and Ken Joyce will all participate in the Squirrels sixth annual Charity Hot Stove Banquet on Thursday, Jan. 21, at VCU’s Stuart C. Siegel Center.

Little, a former Red Sox, Dodgers and R-Braves manager, led Richmond to the 1994 International League Championship en route to winning Manager of the Year. Current San Francisco Giants reliever Osich returns to the RVA following his rapid ascent to the Majors a year ago. Kline, a former MLB pitcher and Joyce will both return to the Hot Stove Festivities as members of the 2016 Flying Squirrels Field Staff.

All four special guests will be signing autographs during the event (timeline below) and tickets for the Hot Stove Banquet are available online. Additional guests will be announced soon and all proceeds will benefit Flying Squirrels Charities, a non-profit 501(C)(3)

“We are very excited about this year’s Hot Stove Banquet. The baseball celebrities in attendance along with the passion of our fans join forces to raise money for our cause while making memories at the same time,” said Squirrels VP & COOTodd “Parney” Parnell.

Additional baseball dignitaries attending the event will be President of Minor League Baseball Pat O’Connor and Eastern League President Joe McEacharn. The Squirrels will also once again acknowledge the vibrant athletic culture in Richmond by presenting the Paul Keyes Richmond Baseball Impact (RBI) Award. Previous award winners include Tracy Woodson, Gene Alley, Johnny Grubb Eddie Kasko and Sam Ayoub. Both Alley & Ayoub will be in attendance for the event.

  • 4pm-5pm: VIP reception in Tommy J. West Club – for table sponsors and celebrity guests
  • 5:30pm-6:30pm:  Autograph session & silent auction in main arena – all guest are invited
  • 7pm-8pm: Dinner and program
  • Immediately following event – Post event party, location TBD

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Flying Squirrels Charities, a nonprofit 501(C)(3) founded in 2014 and dedicated to improving the Richmond community through the Flying Squirrels.
