The weather forecast has shifted a bit since the afternoon. The National Weather Service is now saying that the winter weather in the Greater Augusta area is now more likely to be a snow and sleet event, with 2 to 4 inches of snow and sleet possible in the overnight hours and into Friday morning proper.
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the area through 1 p.m. Friday. The snow and sleet will be in addition to a possible quarter-inch of ice accumulation in the forecast.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the upper 20s to lower 30s for the duration of the weather event.
