Food Bank welcomes new director of communications

black and white smilingThe Blue Ridge Area Food Bank today announces that Abena Foreman-Trice has joined the nonprofit as its new director of communications.

Among her responsibilities, Foreman-Trice will direct media relations, publications and digital content to build awareness about the Food Bank’s mission, service, needs and successes.

Foreman-Trice comes to the food bank with more than 15 years of experience in both communications and journalism, having begun her career as a reporter for WVIR NBC 29. She later joined the public relations department at the University of Virginia Health System.

Following her tenure at the UVA Health System, Foreman-Trice moved over to the Darden School of Business at UVA, where she wrote, produced and managed digital content.

In her most recent role, she worked to advance a financial stability initiative for the United Way of Greater Augusta. She also is a founding partner of DLC Productions, which provides marketing support and digital communications to its parent company, DLC Image Consultants.

Foreman-Trice graduated from Norfolk State University with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications with an emphasis in broadcast journalism, and she completed her M.A. in organizational management at the University of Phoenix. She lives in Waynesboro with her husband and three children.
