Florida State coasts to 88-66 win over Boston College at ACC Tournament

2016 acc tournamentA 12-3 Florida State broke open a tight first half, and the Seminoles went on to a dominant 88-66 win over Boston College in the opening round of the 2016 ACC Tournament on Tuesday.

FSU (19-12, 9-10 ACC) advances to Wednesday’s second round to face #6 seed Virginia Tech (18-13, 10-8 ACC). That game tips at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The ‘Noles led this one 39-30 at the break, and it was still nine, at 65-56, when Boston College forward Dennis Clifford fouled out of the game with 9:28 to go.

Florida State took advantage with an 11-1 run over the next 3:30 to push the lead to 19 at 76-57, and the Eagles (7-25, 0-19 ACC) would never get closer than 14 the rest of the way.

Devon Bookert led four FSU double-digit scorers with 15 points, on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 shooting from three-point range.

The Seminoles shot 58.6 percent from the floor for the game (34-of-58) and were a blistering 56.3 percent (9-of-16) from three-point range.

Eli Carter had 21 points to lead BC, with Clifford contributing 15 points and nine rebounds before fouling out.

Boston College shot 44.9 percent from the field (22-of-49) and was 33.3 percent (6-of-18) from three-point range.
