Five Waynesboro Generals on list of Top 40 VBL prospects
Five members of the Valley League champion Waynesboro Generals were ranked among the Top 40 VBL prospects as compiled by Perfect Game USA.
First baseman Patrick Mazeika (sophomore, Stetson) was ranked #14 on the list. Mazeika hit .382 with a home run and 18 RBI in 24 games for Waynesboro in 2013.
Shortstop Tyler Bocock (junior, Stetson) was ranked #15 on the list. Bocock, the lone representative from Waynesboro on the All-VBL team in 2013, as a second-team selection, hit .311 with a home run and a team-leading 23 RBI for the Generals this summer.
Relief pitcher Josh Thorne (sophomore, Stetson) was ranked #24 on the list. Thorne had a 1.98 ERA in 16 relief appearances, with 21 strikeouts, 10 walks and 18 hits allowed in 22.2 innings pitched.
Pitcher Terrance Dedrick (senior, Auburn) was #28 on the list. Dedrick had an 0-2 record and 3.00 ERA for Waynesboro in seven appearances (three starts). Dedrick struck out 23, walked two and allowed 14 hits in 18 innings pitched.
Second baseman Julius Gaines (junior, Florida International) was #33 on the list. Gaines hit .279 with 17 RBI for Waynesboro.
