The results are in, and Fishburne Military School’s Corps of Cadets will retain the honor of being a United States Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Honor Unit with Distinction.
On Thursday and Friday, the Cadets of FMS underwent a series of formal inspections and delivered briefings about school operations for the graders from US Army Cadet Command’s 4th Brigade.
“You have an outstanding program, instructors, and cadets,” noted Erik S. Shay, GS, JROTC Operations Officer/Logistics Lead, 4th Brigade United States Army Cadet Command Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in a letter congratulating FMS on their near-perfect score.
The evaluating team from Fort Bragg rated the Fishburne Corps, Faculty and overall program on nearly a dozen criteria including the content and delivery of Cadet briefings and the results of formal, in-ranks inspections.
The FMS Color Guard and Drill Teams also held exhibitions for the visiting team of inspectors.
“Coming as it does,” explains Fishburne Military School’s Senior Army Instructor, LTC Robert A. Hunt, USA(Ret), “on the 100th anniversary of becoming a JROTC Unit, the JPA was particularly meaningful to the Cadets and Faculty alike”. “For our Cadets to consistently perform at such a high level,” explains Hunt, “they have to put in a considerable amount of time, energy and attention to detail. Scoring a 98.75% on this JPA truly validates their efforts.”
Being designated as an Honor Unit with Distinction gives Fishburne Military School the priviledge of nominating Cadets to Any of the United States military academies.
