fms kiskiFishburne Military School officially announced the end of its postgraduate basketball program Wednesday.

The PG program just completed its sixth season. Guided by head coach Ed Huckaby Jr., the Caissons were regarded as one of the premier postgrad basketball programs in the country, boasting more Division I signees over the past four years than any other PG program in the country.

The Caissons qualified for the 2013 and 2014 national tournaments, falling in the national quarterfinals both years.

A statement from the school’s Board of Trustees:

Fishburne Military School maintains great respect for Coach Huckaby and is genuinely proud of the program’s alumni and achievements. Fishburne has been blessed to have served such high caliber student-athletes in their pursuit of excellence and values them as alumni.

Our participation in Post-Graduate basketball has been a tremendously valuable experience for the school and for those Alumni who helped to build this program. However, devoting our full resources and attention to the business of undergraduate character development and education for young men is more in keeping with our primary mission.
