real estate new home for saleHow do you want to feel when you walk through the front door of your home? You probably want to feel comfortable, but many people want more from their space.

They want their home to feel like a resort.

We all think fondly of the times we spent relaxing in luxury spaces when on vacation. It makes sense that we would want to feel that way when we’re at home too!

If you want that vacation, resort feeling every time you come home, make sure you look for these features when touring houses to buy.

Choose a Home with Architectural Style

The exterior of your home is important if you want to feel like you’re walking into a resort every time you come home. Skip the prefabricated houses or rows of homes with prominent garages that stick out like sore thumbs and choose a home with architectural style instead.

For example, when looking for a new home in Dubai, consider a villa. This style of home harkens to the old Roman style, which is sure to make you feel like you’re vacationing in Italy when you return home.

A few other architectural styles you might want to consider include:

  • Log cabins are perfect for people who love spending time in nature.
  • Colonial homes will make you feel like you’re living in your very own bed and breakfast.
  • The French Provincial style will provide you with your very own castle-style oasis.
  • Victorian homes are perfect for people who want a home with a little flair.

Live Near the Water

There are actually health benefits of living near the water. It can make us happier, calmer, and more creative. Not to mention, there’s just something special about living near the water.

The good news is, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to live near the ocean. You can look for a home near a lake, a river, or a stream.

Man-made water features can also provide you with that resort feeling at home. Look for a home with a pool, a pond, a water fountain, or another water feature.

Look for an Outdoor Living Area

There’s just something luxurious about an outdoor living area. On vacation, you’ll likely look forward to sipping wine on a deck or enjoying a light lunch at a café outdoors.

Get that feeling when you’re at home by looking for a house with an outdoor living area. You can design a space as a living room, complete with a TV, but there are many other kinds of outdoor living areas you can keep your eye open for:

  • Kitchens with pizza ovens
  • Dining and al fresco dining
  • Bars

Living areas can include decks and patios, but some of the best living areas are simply located in the backyard. Imagine ways you can spend more time outside when you’re shopping around for houses.

Pay Attention to the Bathroom

Most of the rooms in your home are a blank slate. With four walls, carpet, and a few outlets, they’re easy to decorate any way you want. That’s not the case with the bathroom.

Spa experiences are common on vacation, so it’s important to look for a spa-like bathroom if you want to feel special when you’re at home.

You might want to look for a standalone shower or his and hers sinks, but regardless of the specific details you want, you should look for luxury details. Stone shower surrounds and granite vanities will make you feel like you’re staying in a spa resort when you’re at home.

Look for Easy Ways to Make an Update

Chances are, you aren’t going to find every single thing on your wish list when you’re shopping for a home. You should be prepared to do some updating when you move in.

However, that doesn’t mean you want to have to gut your entire home. Instead, look for easy updates you can make when you’re browsing properties.

For example, if a game room will complete your vacation home experience, but you can’t find a property with a game room, look for a home with a large basement that can easily be converted.

Your home is a place where you should feel comfortable every time you step foot inside the door, but it can be even more. It can be a luxurious place that makes you feel special and pampered. You just have to look for the details on this list when you’re shopping for a home!
