Erik Jones paces the field in Monster Energy Cup Series practice

Bristol Motor SpeedwayTwo of the four Joe Gibbs Racing cars paced the field in Saturday practice at Bristol Motor Speedway as Erik Jones and Denny Hamlin in Toyotas led the way in practice speeds of 129.903 and 129.850 mph, respectively.

Daniel Suarez drove the Stewart-Haas Racing Ford to the third spot in the practice session with Penske driver and 2018 Cup Champion Joey Logano in fourth, Kyle Busch in fifth,Jimmie Johnson in sixth, Clint Bowyer in seventh, Martin Truex in eighth, and Kevin Harvick in ninth.  Ryan Blaney rounded out the top ten.

The top nine cars all topped 129 plus mph on the concrete surface of The World’s Fastest Half Mile covering the track in 14 seconds.

Last year’s fall race winner, Kurt Busch was 12th, pole sitter Chase Elliott was 13th, Matt DiBenedetto in 14th and Aric Almirola in 15th.

The green flag is set to fall at 2 pm on Sunday from Bristol Motor Speedway for the running of the Food City 500 Monster Energy Cup race.
