EMU announces fall sports live webcasts

emu-sports-newPicking up on the successful trial run from 2013, EMU has announced it plans to stream a free video webcast of select games on the Turf Field again this fall.  The Royals have already been offering webcasts of all basketball and volleyball games since the 2010-11 athletic season.

The first soccer webcasts will feature a doubleheader against Southern Virginia on Wednesday, Sept. 3, with the both the women’s and men’s teams playing.  The first field hockey webcast is the following Tuesday, Sept. 9, when EMU hosts Johns Hopkins.

All of the scheduled webcasts are for weekday games, helping fans who have travel or work-related constraints limiting them on a weekday.  All of the home contests with rival Bridgewater College are also on the slate.

The following outdoor events are being scheduled for a video webcast this fall:

Men’s Soccer – Sept. 3 vs Southern Virginia, Oct. 1 vs. Washington and Lee, Oct. 22 vs. Shenandoah, Oct. 28 vs. Bridgewater.
Women’s Soccer – Sept. 3 vs. Southern Virginia, Oct. 1 vs. Roanoke, Oct. 22 vs. Randolph-Macon.
Field Hockey – Sept. 9 vs. Johns Hopkins, Sept. 30 vs. Lynchburg, Oct. 23 vs. Bridgewater.

With the addition of secure wired internet access at the press box at the Turf Field last fall, the Royals now have the ability to stream video at seven of the nine sports which host events on campus.  Select emu faculty and staff, as well as alumni and current students, will provide commentary for the volleyball, soccer and field hockey games.  Basketball webcasts are called by local legend Scott Lowe.  All of Eastern Mennonite’s webcasts continue to be free to view.

Links to the video webcast of an event are located directly on the sport’s schedule page, or at EMU’s video player located on the home page of emuroyals.com.  Live stats continue to be available for all of EMU’s home events.
