East Rockingham Senior Center Ambassadors Advertise

ersc-advertiseSeveral months ago, ERSC Director Lisa Gooden mentioned to the ERSC Local Council an idea of implementing an “AMBASSADORS” program, with the goal being that individuals who are on the council or even those who are unable to attend the meetings, could be an ‘ambassador’ to advertise what VPAS and the ERSC offers. The same idea was pitched to ERSC members.

Lisa contacted Susie Forish, who has served on the ERSC Local Council, about whether her advertising company, “Susie’s Advertising,” would be able to include ERSC on an upcoming place-mat used at local restaurants that advertises multiple businesses. Fortunately, Susie agreed but indicated that this would be on an ‘as space is available’ basis. In December, Susie emailed Lisa and asked for the pertinent information, indicating that she would have an advertising space available to ERSC at no charge!

On April 3, Lisa received a letter and two copies of the place-mat that will be used at a prominent Elkton pizza and sub shop.

The ad features the VPAS logo and has Valley Program for Aging Services….Serving individuals age 60 years and better and also includes a photo of ERSC members working on a craft activity. Additionally, the block ad includes some facts from the 2011-2012 Annual Report on congregate meals, socialization/recreation hours, and home delivered meals statistics. Included in the block advertisement is the wording: “Your tax deductible donation helps us to serve the aging population in eastern Rockingham County…” and also includes the Center’s phone number, physical address, and website.

Needless to say, this was quite an impressive way to start off the “Ambassadors” program! Susie Forish is extremely knowledgeable about VPAS programs and services as her mother used to attend activities at ERSC. Susie also regularly donates items for our bingo activities. Susie Forish of Susie’s Advertising, is certainly to be commended for her generosity to ERSC and VPAS as a whole.
