According to the Virginia Public Access Project, Republican incumbent Ben Cline has raised $108,710 for his campaign in the 2015 election cycle, far outpacing Democratic Party challenger Ellen Arthur, who has raised $20,046.
The Arthur campaign points out that the two candidates have roughly the same number of small donors giving $100 or less, and that the difference in the overall totals comes from big-money donors, particulary PAC donors.
Arthur has not received a contribution from any PACs in the 2015 cycle. The Cline campaign lists 52 PAC donations on its report.
“I am proud to have grassroots support and I am hopeful that I can be a voice of change for those folks who have given what they can to see progress in the 24th District. When elected I will never sell out to big business or corporations and will always stay true to my constituents,” Arthur said.
