Democratic Leader David Toscano on Republican vote on gun safety bill

david-toscano3House Democratic Leader David Toscano (D-57) released the following statement on the House Republican Caucus killing multiple bills that would provide commonsense gun safety reform.
“With Virginia families watching, the House Republican Caucus chose to vote against legislation that would implement commonsense approaches to reducing gun violence in the Commonwealth,” said Toscano. “Instead of adopting commonsense solutions to reduce gun violence like expanding background checks — which most Virginians support — or keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous individuals who have been charged with serious crimes, our Republican colleagues voted these bills down.
“No one wants to take away anyone’s Second Amendment rights. However, keeping our streets safe is a critical part of building a new Virginia economy. Therefore, commonsense gun violence prevention should be a top priority for every member of the House of Delegates. It is a kitchen table issue that is important to Virginia families, and we are very disappointed that House Republicans have again rejected measures that will make our communities safer.”
