virginia house democratsThe Virginia House Democratic Caucus announced that Del. Matthew James of Portsmouth will be continuing in his appointed role as Business Liaison for the 2019 Legislative Session.

“Del. James has proved an effective liaison between our caucus and the business community,” said Democratic Leader Eileen Filler-Corn. “We are excited that he will continue in this vital role to deliver results and create new opportunities for our Commonwealth.”

The Business Liaison serves as the primary point of contact for stakeholders in the business community, working with them and members of the House of Delegates to promote economic development. As a member of the Major Employment and Investments Projects Approval Commission, Delegate James proved instrumental in the successful negotiations to bring Amazon’s new headquarters to Northern Virginia. The deal will result in 25,000 new jobs and over $2.5 billion in new investment for the Commonwealth.

“I am honored by the opportunity to continue serving in this role,” Del. James said in a statement. “I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Democratic Caucus and in the community to keep investing in Virginia’s future.”
