Dan Heims to speak at Shenandoah Valley Plant Symposium

Dan Heims - PhotoTerra Nova Nurseries’ resident plant guru and past guest on “The Martha Stewart Show,” Dan Heims, will be speaking at the Shenandoah Valley Plant Symposium, March 27, 2013 at the Best Western Inn & Conference Center in Waynesboro, Va. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT, including morning and afternoon sessions with a catered lunch in between. Heims is one among four guest speakers scheduled for the event.

During the symposium, Heims will speak on “Garden Gems” and “New Perennials from Around the World.” His talks will focus on the latest and most exciting perennials, tropicals and woodies in today’s market. Known for traveling the world to gain insights about international plant trends and new introductions, Heims will reveal several of his top plant secrets to attendees.

Other guest speakers include Peter Hatch, retail director of gardens and grounds at Monticello; Pam Baggett, author and previous owner of Singing Spring Nursery; and Bryce Lane, professor and host of an Emmy winning TV show.

The Shenandoah Valley Plant Symposium is presented by the Waynesboro Parks & Recreation Department in conjunction with the Virginia Nursery & Landscape Association. The cost is $95.00 per person before March 15, and goes up to $105.00 per person until the day of the event. All proceeds benefit the Waynesboro Park & Recreation Horticulture Program.
