Culpeper VDOT District: Traffic Alerts for Sept. 29-Oct. 3

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled; weather permitting, in the Culpeper VDOT District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. Items in italics contain new or updated information.

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directionsMonday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion July 2015.

Interstate 64 westbound – Latex modified treatment. Alternating lane closures will occur overnight, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Route 22 bridge to the Route 616. Alternating lane closures will occur; motorists should obey traffic controls.

Interstate 64 eastbound – Milling. Alternating lane closures will occur overnight, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., from mile marker 116 to Route 22 bridge. Motorists should expect minor delays.

Routes 20, 608, 640, 648, 662 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 610, 612, 691, 708, 715, 717, 719, 746, 769, 809, 819, 1422 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 671 (Ballards Mill Road) – Rehabilitation of bridge over Wards Creek. Road closed approximately 0.5 mile south of Route 609 (Wesley Chapel Road). Motorists should use posted detour route. Expected completion Oct. 3.

Route 674 (Break Heart Road) – Machining of gravel road. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Route 688 (Midway Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

 

Culpeper County

Routes 610, 647, 652, 655, 670, 671, 672, 673, 675, 681, 683, 701, 724, 739, 743, 750, 751, 1090, 1091 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 632, 640, 657 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 647, 661, 663, 700 – Pipe replacements. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Route 681 (Windsor Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

Route 716 (Whippoorwill Lane) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

Route 746 (Settletown Place) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

Surface treatment on the following roads between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate minor delays. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot trucks.

  • Route 610 from Route 724 to Route 647
  • Route 673 from Route 675 to Route 674

 

Town of Culpeper

Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. One lane of roundabout is now open. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. MondayThursday and 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Fauquier County

Interstate 66 rest area, Routes 211, 623, 647, 684, 688, 710, 713, 721, 724, 734 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Interstate 66 westbound – Epoxy overlay. Alternating lane closures will occur from mile marker 31 to Route 245 (Old Tavern Road), overnight 6 p.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls.

Route 17 (Winchester Road) – Epoxy overlay on bridges over Interstate 66. Alternating lane closures will occur Sept. 28Oct. 4. Motorists should expect minor delays.

Routes 628, 691, 821 – Repairs to roadway shoulders and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion April 2015.

Routes 682 (Black Snake Lane) – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 702, 706 – Pipe replacements. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Surface treatment on the following roads between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate minor delays. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot trucks.

  • Route 1605 from cul-de-sac to Route 1603
  • Route 1606 from cul-de-sac to Route 1605
  • Route 1607 from cul-de-sac to Route 1605

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion October 2015.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion May 2015.

Routes 605, 606, 608, 613, 620, 624, 629, 630, 631, 632, 637, 638, 643, 656, 1102, 1103 – Mowing. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Greene County

Routes 33, 230, 607, 670, 743 – Mowing. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Louisa County

Route 33 (Louisa Road) – Tree trimming from Route 522 (Cross Country Road) to the Hanover County line. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 613, 623, 624, 625 – Mowing. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 633 (Lasley Lane) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

 

Orange County

Routes 602, 603, 611, 614, 617, 622, 631, 647, 649, 651, 663, 669, 671, 672, 677, 688, 696, – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 647 (Old Gordonsville Road) – Shoulder repairs and ditching. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Surface treatment on the following roads between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate minor delays. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot trucks.

  • Route 611 from Route 522 to Route 620
  • Route 669 from Route 612 to Route 629
  • Route 651 from Route 522 to Route 629

 

Rappahannock County

Routes 211, 231, 729 Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) – Pipe replacement. Alternating lane closures will occur at the intersection of Route 620 (Fletchers Mill Road) overnight Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.
