Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alerts: May 4-8

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper VDOT District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(UPDATE) Route 29/250 Bypass interchange – Lane restrictions may be in place on the Route 250 Bypass west between the Route 29 (Emmet Street) overpass and the Barracks Road exit between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. There may be lane closures on Emmet Street between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. while crews work. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes. Scheduled project completion May 2016.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent lane closures at the intersections listed below. Motorists should use an alternate route.

  • At Woodbrook Drive – Southbound right lane closed overnight Sunday, May 3 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. and Monday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.Intermittent northbound lane closures overnight Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Intermittent southbound lane closures overnight Tuesday and Thursday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • At Polo Grounds Road – Intermittent lane closures overnight Monday and Tuesday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Nighttime lane closures for utility test holes between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. in the following locations in the Hollymead area:

  • Monday and Tuesday: Northbound right turn lane onto South Hollymead Drive.
  • Wednesday and Thursday: Northbound left lane just north of South Hollymead Drive.
  • Friday: Northbound right turn lane onto South Hollymead Drive.

 

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion is October 2015.

Route 606 (Dickerson Road) – Repairs to bridge over the North Fork Rivanna River. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured south on Route 29 (Seminole Trail) to Route 1571 (Lewis and Clark Drive), then right on Quail Run, which carries motorists back to Route 606. Anticipated completion Aug. 1.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 677 (Bloomfield Road) and Route 250 (Ivy Road). Anticipated completion Aug. 4.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 600, 640, 684, 747, 784, 811 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 627, 691, 706, 729 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 692, 743 – Pipe install/repair
  • Routes 787, 810 – Tree removal.

 

Town of Culpeper

Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur Monday through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Culpeper County

(NEW) Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Preparatory work for construction of new interchange at Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road). Intermittent lane closures Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists should be alert and use caution in the work zone. Anticipated completion August 2017.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 620, 640, 663, 730, 802 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 620, 646, 663, 710 – Machining.
  • Route 637 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Route 762 – Pipe install/repair.

 

Fauquier County

(NEW) Route 647 (Crest Hill Road) – Roadway resurfacing from Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) to 2.3 miles east of Route 522. Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion late May.

(NEW) Route 738 (Wilson Road) – Roadway resurfacing from Route 721 (Free State Road) to Route 733 (John Barton Payne Road). Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

  • Routes 15/29 Business, 211 west, 689, 1201 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 55, 610, 628, 674, 691, 713, 720, 721, 732, 772 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 610, 628, 643, F-185 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Routes 622, 628, 638, 645, 673, 681, 688, 692, 694, 702, 704, 705, 726, 727, 729, 765, 770 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 765 – Mowing.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

  • Routes 605, 619, 620, 629, 630, 682, 683 – Pavement patching.

 

Greene County

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Tree removal work in the median. Northbound and southbound left lane closures may occur just north of Ruckersville. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 627, 633, 640, 810 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 1147 – Pipe install/repair.

 

Louisa County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 615 – Pipe install/repair.

 

Madison County

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Tree removal work in the median. Northbound and southbound left lane closures may occur just south of Shelby. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Expect delays. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

 

Orange County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 231, 647 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Route 638 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 639, 643, 647 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 1052 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Rappahannock County

Route 615 (Turkey Ridge Road) – Repairs to bridge over Blackwater Creek. Road closed approximately two miles north of the intersection of Route 650 (Obannons Mill Road). Motorists should use an alternate route. Anticipated completion May 8.

(NEW) Route 629 (Bean Hollow Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Intermittent lane closures may occur Tuesday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers.

  • Routes 612, 614, 626 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 626 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Route 626 – Pipe install/repair.
