Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alerts: May 11-15

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper VDOT District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(NEW) Route 29 (Emmet Street) – Pipe replacement across Route 29 south at the Route 250 Bypass interchange. Alternating lane closures will occur overnight Tuesday and Wednesday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Nighttime lane closures for drilling work between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. in the following locations in the Hollymead area:

  • Monday and Tuesday: Northbound right lane in the vicinity of North Hollymead Drive.
  • Wednesday and Thursday: Northbound right turn lane onto North Hollymead Drive.

 

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion is October 2015.

(NEW) Route 29 (Monacan Trail Road) – Drainage pipe replacement. Southbound right lane closed between Route 708 (Red Hill Road) and Route 710 (Taylors Gap Road) on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Route 6 (Irish Road) – Roadway resurfacing from the Nelson County line to Route 626 (Langhorne Road). Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

Route 606 (Dickerson Road) – Repairs to bridge over the North Fork Rivanna River. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured south on Route 29 (Seminole Trail) to Route 1571 (Lewis and Clark Drive), then right on Quail Run, which carries motorists back to Route 606. Anticipated completion Aug. 1.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 677 (Bloomfield Road) and Route 250 (Ivy Road). Anticipated completion Aug. 4.

(NEW) Route 677 (Broomley Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham-Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with southbound traffic detoured right onto Route 677 (Old Ballard Road), which will be narrowed to one lane near the intersection, then left onto Route 676/678 (Owensville Road) and out to Route 250 (Ivy Road). Northbound motorists will reverse the detour. Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained during the closure. Anticipated completion Nov. 16.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 600, 612, 645, 646, 683, 717, 722, 723, 746, 747, 752, 784 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 640, 715, 722, 787 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 699 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Route 769 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 787, 810 – Tree removal.

 

Town of Culpeper

Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur Monday through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

Culpeper County

(NEW) Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Preparatory work for roadway widening along the north side of Route 3 between Route 788 (Lignum Road) and Route 750 (Ellis Road). Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes. No lane closures or traffic impacts are anticipated.

Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Preparatory work for construction of new interchange at Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road). Intermittent lane closures Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists should be alert and use caution in the work zone. Anticipated completion August 2017.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 15, 229, 522, 696 – Mowing.
  • Routes 624, 626, 693, 710 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 627, 691, 706, 729 – Pavement patching.

 

Fauquier County

(NEW) Route 610 (Midland Road) – Roadway resurfacing from Route 806 (Elk Run Road) to Route 616 (Bristersburg Road). Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

(UPDATE) Route 647 (Crest Hill Road) – Roadway resurfacing from about 1 mile east of Route 688 (Leeds Manor Road) to Route 635 (Hume Road). Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion late May.

(NEW) Route 691 (Carters Run Road) – Pavement repairs. Road closed to through-traffic at Route 783 (Hideaway Road) and Route 719 (Scotts Road) beginning Wednesday at 6 a.m. Motorists should use an alternate route. Anticipated completion May 21.

  • Routes 602, 795, 1202 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 602, 605, 610, 674, 691, 695, 772, 839, 1045 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 610, 637 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Route 643 – Mowing.
  • Routes 674, 681, 691, 706 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

  • Routes 605, 619, 620, 629, 630 – Pavement patching.

 

Greene County

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 603, 630 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 633 – Pavement patching.

 

Louisa County

(NEW) Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Roadway repairs to the I-64 diverging diamond interchange at Zion Crossroads. Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays during work hours.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Route 607 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 634 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

Madison County

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Expect delays. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

  • Routes 678, 727 – Mowing.
  • Routes 606, 609, 630, 651, 652,727 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Orange County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 15, 20 – Mowing.
  • Routes 620, 663 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 672 – Pipe install/repair.

 

Rappahannock County

(UPDATE) Route 629 (Bean Hollow Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Intermittent lane closures Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers.

(UPDATE) Route 647 (Crest Hill Road) – Roadway resurfacing from Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) to 2.3 miles east of Route 522. Traffic reduced to one lane Thursday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

  • Routes 614, 615, 649, 650 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 622 – Pipe install/repair.
