Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alerts: June 22-26

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Emmet Street) – Nighttime lane closures for pipe replacement across southbound Route 29 at the Route 250 Bypass interchange. Right lane will be closed Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. The ramp to Route 250 west will be closed with a detour for motorists. Motorists should be alert for detour signs and use caution as they approach the work zone.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Emmet Street) – Drainage pipe installation in the median between Angus Road and Hydraulic Road. Intermittent left-turn lane and crossover closures will occur Monday through Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Contractor is digging test holes to locate underground utilities on Route 29 between Polo Grounds Road and Ashwood Boulevard.  On Monday and Tuesday the northbound right turn lane will be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. just north of Polo Grounds Road. On Wednesday and Thursday the northbound right lane will be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. just north of Ashwood Boulevard. Motorists should use caution through the work zone.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Utility relocation work on the west side of Route 29 between Rio Road and Berkmar Drive. The two right southbound lanes will be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., Monday through Friday. On Thursday and Friday nights the southbound right turn lane from Route 29 onto West Rio Road will be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists should slow down and be alert for signs advising of the lane closures and alternate routes as they approach the work zone. Utility relocation work also continues on the east side of Route 29 north of Rio Road. Motorists should be alert for work along the shoulder and nighttime work in the vicinity of the Route 29 entrance to Albemarle Square Shopping Center.

(NEW) Route 250 Bypass – Northbound and southbound left lanes closed between Barracks Road and Route 29 (Emmet Street) for installation of temporary signs in the median. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

 

 

Albemarle County

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Deck resurfacing of I-66 bridge over Route 637 (Dick Woods Road). Alternating eastbound and westbound shoulders will be closed Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Intermittent eastbound lanes closed Wednesday and intermittent westbound lanes closed Thursday between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

(UPDATE) Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta County. During this time, left lanes closures may occur in both directions between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion is Sept. 28.

Route 250 (Ivy Road) – Roadway repaving from Ednam Center to Route 250 Business. Traffic reduced to one lane Sunday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., controlled by flaggers and uniformed police officers. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Bridge is open to traffic. Intermittent lane closures may occur as final work items are completed. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Route 663 (Buck Mountain Road) – Shoulder repair, ditching, and drainage pipe replacement. Northbound lane closed at Route 663 (Simmons Gap Road) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with traffic controlled by flagging. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect delays.

Route 677 (Broomley Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham-Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with southbound traffic detoured right onto Route 677 (Old Ballard Road), which will be narrowed to one lane near the intersection, then left onto Route 676/678 (Owensville Road) and out to Route 250 (Ivy Road). Northbound motorists will reverse the detour. Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained during the closure. Anticipated completion Nov. 16.

Route 703 (Pocket Lane) – Preparation for paving of gravel road. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Route 743 (Earlysville Road) – Entrance pipe replacement. Southbound lane closed just south of Rutledge Lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., with traffic controlled by flagging. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect delays.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 20, 683 – Debris removal.
  • Routes 600, 610, 612, 621, 631, 746, 762, 769, 780, 781, 807, 876, 1102, 1493 – Mowing.
  • Routes 606, 640, 1585, 1586, 1589, 1590, 1591 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 606, 633, 634, 698 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

 

Town of Culpeper

Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

 

Culpeper County

(UPDATE) Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Preparatory work for roadway widening. Alternating lane closures will occur just west of Route 750 (Ellis Road) on Wednesday and Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for drainage pipe installation. Traffic will be controlled by flagging. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Construction of new interchange at Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists should be alert and use caution through the work zone. Anticipated completion August 2017.

Route 655 (Somerville Road) – Drainage pipe installation between Route 689 (Cedar Run Road) and Route 652 (Mitchell Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

Route 673 (Newbys Shop Road) – Drainage pipe installation between Route 675 south (Haughts Lane) and Route 675 north (Thoms Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 15, 229, 600, 608, 617, 625, 630, 631, 633, 636, 641, 647, 652, 656, 658, 660, 661, 662, 663, 685, 697, 711, 715, 716, 718, 719, 723 – Mowing.
  • Routes 603, 643, 682, 1125, 1171 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 629, 650, 657 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 669, 682 – Pipe installation/repair.

 

 

Fauquier County

(UPDATE) Interstate 66 – Repairs to Route 723 (Ashville Road) bridge over I-66. Westbound left lane closed Monday through Wednesdayand westbound right lane closed Thursday from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Route 678 (Waterloo Road) – Drainage pipe replacement. Road closed between Route 1550 (Wellington Drive) and Route 691 (Old Waterloo Road), with westbound traffic detoured south to Route 211 (Lee Highway), then right onto Route 688 (Leeds Manor Road), and then right onto Route 691 (Old Waterloo Road), which carries traffic back to Route 678. Eastbound motorists will reverse the detour.

(UPDATE) Route 723 (Ashville Road) – Repairs to bridge over Interstate 66. Road closed at the bridge. Through traffic should follow posted detour signs and use caution in the work zone. Anticipated completion August 1.

  • Routes 17, 55 west, 678, 1002 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 604, 606, 632, 634, 643, 649, 650, 663, 667, 678, 737, 745 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 605, 610, 615, 616, 617, 637, 647, 709, 710, 721, 752, 806 – Mowing.
  • Routes 635, 681 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 637 – Debris removal.
  • Routes 670, 678, 1053 – Pipe installation/repair.

 

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 15, 601, 605, 608, 615, 629, 630, 631, 659, 663, 1102, 1103 – Mowing.
  • Route 630, 631 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 616 – Pipe installation/repair.

 

 

Greene County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 618, 622, 623, 629, 633, 645, 743 – Mowing.
  • Route 1022 – Pavement patching.

 

 

Louisa County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 607, 626, 629, 636, 638, 640, F191, F192 – Mowing.
  • Route 689 – Pavement patching.

 

 

Madison County

(UPDATE) Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Motorists should expect brief delays Monday through Friday while crews install a drainage pipe under the roadway. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

  • Routes 678, 630 – Pavement patching.

 

 

Orange County

(NEW) Route 15 (James Madison Highway North) – Drainage pipe replacement. Alternating lane closures will occur between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. Tuesday at Route 721 (Robinson River Road), with traffic controlled by flagging. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect delays.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Route 15, 611, 635 – Pipe installation/repair.
  • Route 635 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 299 – Mowing.

 

 

Rappahannock County

(NEW) Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Roadway paving and striping from Route 1003 (Waterpenny Lane) to Route 9908 (Rappahannock High School) will reduce traffic to one lane Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the work zone.

Route 637 (Jericho Road) – Replacement of bridge over Big Indian Run. Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flagging. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion May 2016.

  • Routes 600, 612, 618, 658, 681 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 600, 608, 621, 626, 628, 629, 630, 631, 632, 635, 637, 647, 662, 673, 680, 681 – Mowing.
  • Route 629 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
