Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alerts: Feb. 16-20

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled; weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. Items in italics contain new or updated information.

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion is October, 2015.

Routes 20, 231, 743 – Shoulder repair and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Routes 53, 231, 250, 635, 672, 766, 810 – Debris removal. Motorists should obey traffic controls.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 677 (Bloomfield Road) and Route 250 (Ivy Road). Anticipated completion Aug. 4.

Routes 630, 633, 637, 671, 687, 699, 767, 794, 797, 821, 823 Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 706, 810 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 717 (Secretarys Sand Road) – Trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

City of Charlottesville

Route 29-250 Interchange – Construction of interchange improvements. Preliminary construction work will occur on Route 29 right shoulder beginning Monday, Feb. 16. Motorists should drive with caution near the work zone. Anticipated project completion May 2016.

 

Town of Culpeper

Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. One lane of roundabout is now open. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Culpeper County

Route 29 northbound (James Madison Highway) – Shoulder repair and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Routes 601, 625, 640, 666, 685, 706 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 620, 647, 663 – Pipe replacement. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 624, 626, 640, 696, 710 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

 

Fauquier County

Routes 17, 610, 611, 612, 617, 635, 647, 688, 713, 752, 1006 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 616, 643, 742, 768, 1312 – Shoulder repair and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Routes 630, 670, 736, routes in Ridgedale and Warrenton Lakes subdivisions – Trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 638, 731, 758, 1501, 1503 – Pipe replacement. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 645, 737, 739, 780 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion April 27.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

Routes 6, 53 – Shoulder repair and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Routes 620, 759, 1007 – Trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Greene County

Routes 29, 33 – Trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 626, 634, 637 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 623, 646 – Shoulder repair and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Louisa County

Route 33 (Jefferson Highway) Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 250, 605 – Shoulder repair and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 656 (Cedar Hill Road) – Trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Madison County

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Through late March, blasting operations may occur on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and will require a traffic stop of up to 15 minutes. Expect delays. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

Routes 231, 643 – Shoulder repair and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 678 (Coop Road) – Trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Orange County

Routes 15, 20, 231 – Shoulder repair and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Routes 20, 231 – Pipe replacement. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 621, 658 – Trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 626, 639, 673 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 631, 639, 643, 647, 700 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

 

Rappahannock County

Routes 211, 522, 600, 681 – Shoulder repair and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Routes 600, 612, 614, 622, 623, 626, 660 – Debris removal. Motorists should obey traffic controls.
