The following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(UPDATE) Route 29/250 Bypass interchange – Contractor is performing excavation work near the ramp and grading in the median. Motorists should be alert for equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • On Saturday, Aug. 15 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., the westbound Route 250 Bypass outside lane will be closed from Hydraulic Road to Barracks Road.
  • Sunday, Aug. 16 through Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., the westbound Route 250 Bypass outside lane will be closed from Hydraulic Road to Barracks Road.
  • Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the westbound Route 250 Bypass outside lane will be closed from Hydraulic Road to Barracks Road.
  • Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., the ramp from westbound Route 250 to Barracks Road will be closed. A detour is in place for motorists.
  • Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., intermittent left-turn lane and crossover closures will occur on Route 29 from Earhart Drive to Hydraulic Road.

(NEW) Rio Road grade-separated intersection – Temporary crossovers and signals will be installed and utility relocation work continues in the vicinity of the Rio Road intersection.

  • Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., alternating lanes closed on northbound and southbound Route 29 between Woodbrook Road and Rio Road.
  • On Monday and Tuesday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., right lane closed on northbound Route 29 from Fashion Square Drive to Rio Road.
  • Wednesday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., alternating lanes closed on northbound Route 29 from Twentyninth Place Court to Myers Drive.
  • Wednesday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., left lane closed on southbound Route 29 from Rio Road to Berkmar Drive.
  • Wednesday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., left lane closed on northbound Route 29 from Twentyninth Place Court to Rio Road.

(NEW) Route 29 widening – Installation of concrete barriers and lane markings. Wednesday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., the Route 29 northbound left lane will be closed from Polo Grounds Road to Towncenter Drive. Motorists should be alert for minor traffic shifts and slight narrowing of the travel lanes.

Route 631 (Rio Road) – Sunday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., line striping and finishing work will be done on East Rio Road from Route 29 to approximately 0.1 mile south of Hillsdale Drive. Motorists should be alert for lane closures and changes in the traffic pattern. Traffic through the work zone will be controlled and brief delays are likely.

 

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Deck resurfacing of I-64 bridge over Route 637 (Dick Woods Road). Alternating eastbound lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Interstate 64 – Installation of infrastructure and devices for active traffic management system on Afton Mountain. Left shoulder closed in both directions between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta County. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion Nov. 5.

(UPDATE) Interstate 64 – Painting bridges over Route 250 (Richmond Road) in Shadwell (exit 124). Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., intermittent shoulder closures will occur at the bridge. Westbound Route 250 right shoulder will be closed Monday through Friday. Motorists should use caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Bridge painting. Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., intermittent shoulder closures will occur in both directions at mile marker 130. Motorists should use caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Primary routes – Line painting. Mobile lane closures will occur on Route 29 (Seminole Trail) overnight beginning Sunday, Aug. 16 at Towncenter Drive and working north. Line painting on Route 250 (Ivy Road) from Crozet to the Route 29/250 Bypass and on Route 250 (Richmond Road) from the city of Charlottesville limits to Route 22 will also occur during overnight hours. Work on all other primary routes will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving equipment and only pass where safe and legal.

Primary routes – Bridge washing in the following locations. Alternating lane closures will occur in each direction Monday through Friday during daylight hours. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

  • Route 20 (Scottsville Road/Valley Street) – Bridges over the James River and Hardware River.
  • Route 22 (Louisa Road) – Bridge over Turkey Sag Creek.
  • Route 29/250 Bypass – Bridge over Route 654 (Barracks Road) and two bridges over Route 29 Business (Fontaine Avenue).
  • Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway) – Bridge over Buck Island Creek.
  • Route 250 (Ivy Road) – Bridges over Route 29/250 Bypass, Buckingham Branch Railroad and Rivanna River.

(UPDATE) Route 20 (Stony Point Road) – Application of latex sealant from Route 250 (Richmond Road) to Route 621 (Wolf Trap Road). Traffic reduced to one lane from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Wednesday through Friday. Traffic will be controlled by flagging and pilot truck. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

(NEW) Route 22 (Louisa Road) – Shoulder repair along the Route 22 corridor, from Route 250 (Richmond Road) to the Louisa County line. On Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., alternating lanes closed with traffic controlled by flagging. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Route 231 (Gordonsville Road) – Shoulder repair along the Route 231 corridor. On Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., alternating lanes closed with traffic controlled by flagging. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Shoulder repair at the Route 649 (Proffit Road) intersection on Tuesday. No traffic impacts are anticipated. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Route 605 (Durrett Road/Durrett Ridge Road) – Pavement patching between Route 743 (Advance Mills Road) in Albemarle County and Route 604 (Celt Road) in Greene County. Alternating lanes closed during daylight hours Tuesday through Friday. Obey traffic controls.

(UPDATE) Route 608 (Happy Creek Road) – Roadway resurfacing from Route 645 (Magnolia Road) to Route 646 (Lovers Lane). Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flagging and pilot truck. Expect brief delays.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

(NEW) Route 676 (Owensville Road) – Pavement patching between Route 677 (Old Ballard Road) and Route 678 (Decca Lane). Alternating lanes closed during daylight hours on Tuesday and Wednesday. Obey traffic controls.

Route 677 (Broomley Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham-Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with southbound traffic detoured right onto Route 677 (Old Ballard Road), which will be narrowed to one lane near the intersection,then left onto Route 676/678 (Owensville Road) and out to Route 250 (Ivy Road). Northbound motorists will reverse the detour. Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained during the closure. Anticipated completion Nov. 16.

(UPDATE) Route 1734 (Malbon Drive) – Paving from Route 1723 to the end of state maintenance. Single lane closures with flagging will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Obey traffic controls.

(UPDATE) Route 1735 (Becker Lane) – Paving from Route 1723 to the end of state maintenance. Single lane closures with flagging will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Obey traffic controls.

(UPDATE) Route 1736 (Barron Court) – Paving from Route 1723 to the end of state maintenance. Single lane closures with flagging will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. Obey traffic controls.

(UPDATE) Route 1740 (Copper Knoll Road) – Paving from Route 1737 to the end of state maintenance. Single lane closures with flagging will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. Obey traffic controls.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 22, 231 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 602, 606, 617, 618, 620, 622, 630, 631, 676, 708, 715, 721, 722, 723, 795, 800 – Mowing.
  • Routes 605, 635, 636, 676, 691, 1120 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 606, 668605, 636, 668, 691 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 664, 676 – Pipe installation/repair.
  • Routes 784, 1120 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.

 

Culpeper County

Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Preparatory work for roadway widening. Grading and clearing operations from Route 788 (Lignum Road) to just west of Route 739 (Clay Hills Road). Speed limit reduced to 45 mph in the work zone between Route 788 and just west of Route 669 (Carrico Mills Road). Motorists should be alert for workers near the travel lanes and trucks entering and exiting the highway.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Painting Route 3 (Germanna Highway) bridge over Route 29. Monday through Friday, shoulders will be closed on Route 3 and Route 29 at the bridge. Motorists should use caution through the work zone.

Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Construction of new interchange at Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists should be alert and use caution through the work zone. Anticipated completion August 2017.

(NEW) Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) – Milling and paving from the Orange County line to just south of Route 689 (Cedar Run Road). Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., traffic will be reduced to one lane, controlled by flagging and pilot truck. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect delays.

(UPDATE) Route 655 (Somerville Road) – Roadway resurfacing from Route 689 (Cedar Run Road) to Route 652 (Mitchell Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flagging.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 602, 603, 611, 622, 647, 661, 662, 663, 680, 681, 688, 695, 672, 723, 739, 741, 750, 762 – Mowing.
  • Routes 624, 630 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 650, 661, 662, 663, 723, 749 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Routes 682, 799 – Pipe installation/repair.
  • Route 682 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Route 684 – Pavement patching.

 

Fauquier County

Interstate 66 – Repairs to bridge over Broad Run, just east of Route 245 (Old Tavern Road). Inside lanes closed at mile marker 32 in both directions Monday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Motorists should keep right and expect brief delays.

(UPDATE) Route 15/29 (Lee Highway) – Line painting along the northbound lanes from approximately 0.1 mile north of Route 17 (Marsh Road) to just north of Route 880 (Lord Fairfax Road). Traffic will be reduced to one lane from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.Monday through Thursday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

(UPDATE) Route 17 (Winchester Road) – Roadway patching from Route 777 (Old Zion Road) to just south of the bridge over Interstate 66. Northbound traffic reduced to one lane from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday. Traffic will be controlled by flagging and pilot truck. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

(NEW) Route 29 (Lee Highway) – Roadway patching from Route 605 (Airlie Road/Dumfries Road) to the Prince William County line. Northbound traffic reduced to one lane from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday. Traffic will be controlled by flagging and pilot truck. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

Route 17 (Marsh Road) – Mowing from Interstate 66 to the Spotsylvania County line. Mobile lane closures will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Route 688 (Leeds Manor Road) – Replacing bridge over Thumb Run. Intermittent shoulder closures will occur for installation of construction signs from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Anticipated completion July 2016.

(NEW) Route 742 (Wheatley School Road) – Preparatory work for paving of gravel road. Single lane closures with flagging will occur from Route 688 (Leeds Manor Road) to the end of state maintenance, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 752 (Sillamon Road) – Replacement of bridge over Deep Run. Road closed at the bridge, approximately one mile east of Route 617 (Blackwells Mill Road) near Goldvein. Motorists should use posted detour via Route 617. Anticipated completion Oct. 1.

  • Routes 55, 847 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 215, 600, 602, 603, 604, 605, 606, 647, 652, 669, 673, 674, 675, 676, 688, 692, 724, 749, 767, 806, 818, 827, 900, 1306 – Mowing.
  • Routes 602, 616, 650, 668, 674 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Routes 602, 710, 721, 726, 847, 1414 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 609, 615, 634, 715, 716 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 610, 847 – Pipe installation/repair.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge is in final completion stage with minimal traffic impacts.

Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Washing bridges over Rivanna River and Cunningham Creek. Alternating lane closures will occur in each direction Monday through Friday during daylight hours. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(UPDATE) Various routes – Paving and line striping at the locations listed below. Traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

  • Route 606 (Rivanna Mills Road) – From Route 659 to the end of state maintenance.
  • Route 608 (Barnaby Road) – From Route 632 to Route 613.
  • Route 613 (Bybees Church Road) – From Route 15 to Route 630.
  • Route 617 (Little Creek Road) – From Route 631 to Route 15.
  • Route 630 (Plain Dealing Road) – From Route 659 to Route 601.
  • Route 631 (Hunters Lodge Road) – From Route 613 to Route 15.
  • Route 632 (Ridge Road) – From Route 676 to the end of state maintenance.
  • Route 670 (Prospect Lane) – From Route 676 to the end of state maintenance.
  • Route 676 (Oliver Creek Road) – From Route 22 to Route 675.
  • Route 685 (Colemans Lane) – From Route 659 to the end of state maintenance.
  • Route 686 (Harris Lane) – From Route 608 to the end of state maintenance.
  • Route 692 (Kathys Lane) – From Route 676 to the end of state maintenance.

(UPDATE) Route 1007 (Stoneleigh Road) – Preparatory work for paving of gravel road. Single lane closures with flagging will occur from Route 15 (James Madison Highway) to Route 601 (Courthouse Road) Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Obey traffic controls.

Greene County

(UPDATE) Route 1071 (Stoneridge Drive North) – Shoulder repair the intersection of Route 33 (Spotswood Trail). Northbound lane closed from midnight on Saturday, Aug. 15 to 4 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16. Obey traffic controls.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 33, 609, 619, 621, 663 – Mowing.
  • Route 605 – Pavement patching.

 

Louisa County

(NEW) Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Shoulder repair along the Route 15 corridor for approximately two miles north of Interstate 64. On Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., alternating lanes closed with traffic controlled by flagging. Obey traffic controls.

Route 250 (Richmond Road) – Washing bridges over Mechunk Creek. Alternating lane closures will occur in each direction Monday through Friday during daylight hours. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(UPDATE) Route 658 (Old Apple Grove Road) – Preparatory work for paving of gravel road. Single lane closures with flagging will occur from Route 657 (Apple Grove Road) to the bridge over Turners Creek Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 674 (Sugarplum Road) – Pavement patching along the route, west of Route 649 (Byrd Mill Road). Alternating lanes closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 674 (Loving Road) – Pavement patching along the route. Alternating lanes closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Obey traffic controls.

(UPDATE) Various routes – Paving and line striping at the locations listed below. Traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

  • Route 676 (Diamond Road) – From the Fluvanna County line to Route 627.
  • Route 691 (Old Louisa Road) – From Route 33 to the Orange County line.
  • Route 694 (Loving Road) – From Route 600 to Route 615.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Route 15 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 632, 642, 649, 688 – Mowing.
  • Routes 674, 694 – Pavement patching.

 

Madison County

(UPDATE) Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. On Thursday, traffic will be switched to the northbound lane as contractor shifts to reconstruct southbound half of bridge. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

(NEW) Route 663 (Walkers Mill Lane) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., single lane closed with traffic controlled by flagging from about 0.5 mile west of Route 662 (Shelby Road) to about 0.8 mile east of Route 664 (Carter Ridge Lane). Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 643, 644, 645, 646, 707 – Mowing.
  • Routes 680, 725 – Pavement patching.

 

Orange County

(NEW) Route 629 (Lahore Road) – Drainage pipe replacement. Road closed Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. between Route 669 (Marquis Road) and Route 649 (Grasty Lane). Local traffic will have access to all driveways; through traffic should follow the posted detour.

(NEW) Route 689 (Willis Bridge Road) – Drainage pipe replacement. Road closed Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. between Route 637 (Tomahawk Creek Road) and Route 638 (Mountain Track Road). Local traffic will have access to all driveways; through traffic should follow the posted detour.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Route 33 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 33, 629, 633 – Pipe installation/repair.
  • Routes 603, 611, 614, 620, 647, 680, 681, 688, 739, 750, 753, 1120, 1121, 1150, 1151, 1152, 1153 – Mowing.
  • Route 734 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 734 – Machining.

 

Rappahannock County

(UPDATE) Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Mowing from Route 522 (Sperryville Pike) to the town of Warrenton. Mobile lane closures will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Route 602 (Nethers Road) – Stream bank restoration along the Hughes River. The road will be closed between Route 231 (FT Valley Road) and Route 601 (Nethers Road) beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Route 231 and Route 601 (Peola Mills Road) is the detour route. The road is expected to reopen the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 14.

Route 637 (Jericho Road) – Replacement of bridge over Big Indian Run. Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flagging. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion May 2016.

  • Routes 211, 611, 642 – Mowing.
  • Route 211 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Route 600 – Machining of gravel roads.

  • Route 622 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
