Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alert: May 25-29

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Emmet Street) – Nighttime lane closures for pipe replacement across Route 29 at the Route 250 Bypass interchange. The two left northbound lanes will be closed Tuesday and the two right northbound lanes will be closed Wednesday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The two right lanes on southbound Route 29 and Route 250 Bypass ramp will be closed Thursday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. During the ramp closure, a detour will be in place for motorists.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Emmet Street) – Pipe installation in the median between Angus Road and Hydraulic Road. Intermittent left-turn lane and crossover closures will occur Tuesday between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday between 9 a.m.and 4 p.m. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Nighttime lane closures for clearing and excavation for utility relocation. The two right northbound lanes from Rio Road approximately 1,000 feet north will be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. overnight Tuesday and Wednesday.

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Lane closures Tuesday through Friday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. during preparations for utility relocation. There will be alternating closures of the two right or left lanes northbound and southbound from Fashion Square to Myers Drive.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Nighttime lane closures for utility test holes between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. in the following locations in the Forest Lakes area:

  • Tuesday: Northbound right lane just north of Polo Grounds Road.
  • Wednesday and Thursday: Northbound right lane between Polo Grounds Road and Ashwood Boulevard.
  • Sunday, May 31: Northbound left lane between Polo Grounds Road and Ashwood Boulevard.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent lane closures between Hydraulic Road and Airport Road in both directions overnight Tuesday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should use an alternate route.

 

 

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta County. During this time, left lanes closures may occur in both directions between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion is July 2015.

(NEW) Route 20 (Stony Point Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Traffic reduced to one lane near the Orange County lineTuesday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone

Routes 625, 627, 657, 659, 1427, 1428, 1493 – Pavement marking eradication prior to paving. Traffic reduced to one lane Tuesdaythrough Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck. Expect minor delays.

Route 606 (Dickerson Road) – Repairs to bridge over the North Fork Rivanna River. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured south on Route 29 (Seminole Trail) to Route 1571 (Lewis and Clark Drive), then right on Quail Run, which carries motorists back to Route 606. Anticipated completion Aug. 1.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 677 (Bloomfield Road) and Route 250 (Ivy Road). Anticipated completion Aug. 4.

Route 677 (Broomley Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham-Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with southbound traffic detoured right onto Route 677 (Old Ballard Road), which will be narrowed to one lane near the intersection,then left onto Route 676/678 (Owensville Road) and out to Route 250 (Ivy Road). Northbound motorists will reverse the detour. Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained during the closure. Anticipated completion Nov. 16.

  • Routes 29 south, 810 – Pipe installation/repair.
  • Routes 631, 649, 680, 691, 810, 2500 – Mowing.
  • Routes 633, 634, 694, 745, 782, 824, 717, 728 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 640, 740 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 810 – Tree removal.

 

 

Town of Culpeper

Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur Tuesday from 12 p.m. and 5 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

 

Culpeper County

Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Preparatory work for roadway widening along the north side of Route 3 between Route 788 (Lignum Road) and Route 669 (Carrico Mills Road). No lane closures or traffic impacts are anticipated. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Preparatory work for construction of new interchange at Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road). Intermittent lane closures Tuesday between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday between 9 a.m. and3 p.m. Motorists should be alert and use caution in the work zone. Anticipated completion August 2017.

(NEW) Route 775 (Ferguson Lane) – Drainage pipe installation along route. Traffic reduced to one lane Monday and Tuesdaybetween 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

  • Routes 601, 613, 628, 629, 646, 648, 649, 650, 667, 667, 699, 708, 711, 760, 799 – Mowing.
  • Routes 605, 623, 680, 688, 698, 729 – Dust control application.
  • Routes 608, 634, 637, 643, 715, 722 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 618, 628, 629, 630, 730 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 688 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

 

Fauquier County

(UPDATE) Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Bridge reopened to traffic. The backup date for pavement marking installation is Tuesday, with traffic controlled by flaggers.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 29, 604 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 602, 603, 605, 652, 669, 673, 674, 675, 761, 793, 1302, 1312, 1341 – Mowing.
  • Routes 605, 691 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 643 – Pipe installation/repair.
  • Route 667 – Debris removal.
  • Routes 674, 681, 688, 745 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

  • Routes 619, 642, 655, 656, 657, 660, 1010, 1011 – Mowing.

 

 

Greene County

  • Routes 29, 33 – Mowing.

 

 

Louisa County

Routes 601, 1001, 1004, 1008, 1009, 1010, 1014 – Pavement marking eradication prior to paving. Traffic reduced to one laneTuesday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck. Expect minor delays.

  • Routes 634, 701 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 689, 693, 745 – Pavement patching.

 

 

Madison County

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Expect delays. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

  • Route 665 – Debris removal.

 

Orange County
