Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alert: March 16-20

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisionssince last week’s report.

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Nighttime lane closures in the vicinity of Route 631 (Rio Road) for subsurface soil exploration. Expect lane closures between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

(UPDATE) Route 29/250 Bypass interchange – Preparatory work will include ground clearing, sign and traffic control installations and guardrail removal on the Route 250 bypass and westbound on-ramp. Lane closures between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. may be needed during initial work at the site. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes. Scheduled project completion May 2016.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent lane closures between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. at the intersections listed below. Motorists should use an alternate route.

  • At Airport Road, Timberwood Boulevard, Towncenter Drive – Intermittent lane closures overnight Monday.
  • At Towncenter Drive – Motorists should expect signals to be dark for several hours overnight Wednesday. Uniformed officers will be available to direct traffic.

 

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion is October 2015.

Route 6 (Irish Road) – Roadway resurfacing from the Nelson County line to Route 626 (Langhorne Road). Traffic reduced to one lane between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 677 (Bloomfield Road) and Route 250 (Ivy Road). Anticipated completion Aug. 4.

Route 1150 (Mill Creek Drive) – Rehabilitation of curb ramps at intersections. Alternating lane closures will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Route 810 – Debris removal.
  • Routes 611, 640, 641, 661, 662, 668, 678, 683, 684, 697, 713, 747, 757, 760, 784, 795, 811 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 665, 717 – Trimming.
  • Routes 640, 706 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 743 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

Town of Culpeper

Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Culpeper County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 611, 621, 625, 633, 640, 641, 685, 802 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 620, 647, 663 – Pipe replacement.
  • Routes 624, 626, 628, 646, 650, 714, 758, 775 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Fauquier County

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion April 27.

(NEW) Route 661 (Schoolhouse Road) – Subsurface soil exploration on Wednesday in the vicinity of Cedar Lee Middle School. Motorists should be alert and proceed with caution through the work zone.

(NEW) Route 723 (Ashville Road) – Repairs to bridge over Interstate 66. Intermittent lane closures may occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. for sign installation, with traffic controlled by flaggers.

  • Routes 55 west, 607, 615, 616, 617, 625, 634, 637, 640, 656, 662, 674, 678, 681, 688, 691, 710, 712, 720, 721, 732, 752, 772, 779 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 55 west, 688, 701,712 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 607, 628, 645, 654, 659, 673, 674, 681, 682, 683, 684, 685, 688, 692, 694, 700, 702, 703, 704, 705, 708, 710, 715, 716, 724, 736, 742, 761, 762, 768, 769, 789, 800, 801, 820 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 638, 731 – Pipe replacement.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

  • Routes 6, 53 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Route 1007 – Trimming.

 

Greene County

Routine Maintenance Activities

  • Routes 601, 614, 621, 624, 626, 627, 628, 629, 630, 632, 634, 637, 642, 650, 667, 676 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Louisa County

Route 22 (Louisa Road) – Roadway resurfacing from the Albemarle County line to Route 15 (James Madison Highway). Traffic reduced to one lane between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

  • Routes 617, 636, 638, 640, 695 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Madison County

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Through late March, blasting operations may occur on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and will require a traffic stop of up to 15 minutes. Expect delays. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

 

Orange County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 621, 658 – Trimming.

 

Rappahannock County

(NEW) Route 622 (Harris Hollow Road/Gid Brown Hollow Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Intermittent lane closures may occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers.

  • Routes 211, 522, 614, 616, 618, 621, 640 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 600, 612, 647 – Pipe replacement.
  • Routes 607, 624, 625, 629,630, 631, 632, 637, 662, 681 – Machining of gravel roads.
