Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alert: April 6-10

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper VDOT District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Subsurface soil exploration between Route 643 (Polo Grounds Road) and Towncenter Drive, with intermittent lane closures overnight Monday and Tuesday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Motorists should be alert and use caution in the work zone.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent lane closures at the intersections listed below. Motorists should use an alternate route.

  • At Branchlands Boulevard – Northbound left lane closed overnight Monday.
  • At Polo Grounds Road – Intermittent lane closures overnight Monday and Tuesday.
  • At Twentyninth Place Road – Northbound left lane closed overnight Monday.
  • At Airport Road – Southbound turn lanes closed overnight Tuesday.
  • At Timberwood Boulevard – Southbound left turn lane closed overnight Wednesday and northbound left turn lane closed overnight Thursday.

 

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion is October 2015.

(UPDATE) Route 6 (Irish Road) – Roadway resurfacing from the Nelson County line to Route 626 (Langhorne Road). Traffic reduced to one lane Tuesday between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 677 (Bloomfield Road) and Route 250 (Ivy Road). Anticipated completion Aug. 4.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 20, 640, 679, 722 – Debris removal.
  • Routes 29, 250, 1392, 1408, 1444 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 629, 668, 682, 683, 687, 688, 689, 736, 745, 752, 765, 829 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 743 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

Town of Culpeper

(UPDATE) Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur on Tuesday between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m., Wednesday through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Culpeper County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 601, 613, 621, 625, 633, 640, 649, 657, 663, 669, 685, 692, 802 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 624, 636, 637, 642, 648,651, 692, 696, 706, 710, 734 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 647 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Route 682 – Debris removal.

 

Fauquier County

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion April 27.

(UPDATE) Route 723 (Ashville Road) – Preparatory work for repairs to bridge over Interstate 66. Intermittent lane closures may occur Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers.

  • Routes 610, 638, 647, 688, 731, 758, 798 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Routes 615, 622, 631, 632, 637, 647, 675, 688, 710, 712, 738, 743, 752, 772, 813 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 628, 629, 659, 674, 691, 698, 702, 703, 706, 737, 739, 761, 778, 780 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 688 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

Greene County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 640, 810, 1020 – Pavement patching.

 

Louisa County

Route 22 (Louisa Road) – Roadway resurfacing from the Albemarle County line to Route 15 (James Madison Highway). Traffic reduced to one lane between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

  • Route 613 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Routes 651, 693, 773 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Madison County

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Expect delays. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

  • Route 643 – Debris removal.

 

Orange County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 522, 658 – Debris removal.
  • Routes 602, 620, 652, 655, 660, 681, 684, 692 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 660 – Pavement patching.

 

Rappahannock County

(UPDATE) Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Prep work for roadway resurfacing between Route 1003 (Waterpenny Lane) and Route 9908 (Rappahannock High School). Alternating lane closures on Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution in the work zone.

(UPDATE) Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) – Prep work for roadway resurfacing between Route 635 (Hume Road) and the Warren County line. Traffic reduced to one lane on Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

(NEW) Route 629 (Bean Hollow Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Intermittent lane closures may occur Tuesday between12 p.m. and 5 p.m. and Wednesday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers.

  • Routes 211, 621, 660 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 600, 603, 607, 612, 618, 622, 625 – Machining of gravel roads.

  • Routes 604, 612, 614, 615, 616, 617, 622, 626, 638, 647, 707, 729 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 646 – Pipe install/repair.
