Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alert: April 27-May 1

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper VDOT District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(UPDATE) Route 29/250 Bypass interchange – Lane restrictions may be in place on the Route 250 Bypass west between the Route 29 (Emmet Street) overpass and the Barracks Road exit between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. There may be lane closures on Emmet Street between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. while crews work. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes. Scheduled project completion May 2016.

(NEW) Route 29/250 Bypass interchange – Pipe replacement. Ramp from Route 29 south to Route 250 east closed overnight Wednesday and Thursday between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Right lane closed during the day on Route 250 east as crews work. Motorists should use an alternate route.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent lane closures at the intersections listed below. Motorists should use an alternate route.

  • At Rivanna Plaza Drive – Northbound and southbound left-turn lanes closed overnight Sunday, April 26 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. and Monday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • At Polo Grounds Road – Northbound and southbound left-turn lanes closed overnight Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. with traffic controlled by uniformed police officers on Tuesday.

(UPDATE) Timberwood Road – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent eastbound lane closures at the Route 29 intersection overnight Tuesday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should use an alternate route.

(UPDATE) Towncenter Drive – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent eastbound lane closures at the Route 29 intersection overnight Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should use an alternate route.

 

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion is October 2015.

Route 606 (Dickerson Road) – Repairs to bridge over the North Fork Rivanna River. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured south on Route 29 (Seminole Trail) to Route 1571 (Lewis and Clark Drive), then right on Quail Run, which carries motorists back to Route 606. Anticipated completion Aug. 1.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 677 (Bloomfield Road) and Route 250 (Ivy Road). Anticipated completion Aug. 4.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 636, 637, 643, 688 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 640, 679, 691, 743 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 743 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

Town of Culpeper

Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur Monday throughThursday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Culpeper County

(NEW) Route 719 (Mountain Run Lake Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Road closed at the Mountain Run Lake Park entrance beginning Monday at 8 a.m. Motorists on Route 719 northbound will be detoured right onto Route 641 (Gibson Mill Road), left onto Route 522 (Sperryville Pike), and then left onto Route 633 (Norman Road), which carries traffic back to Route 719. Southbound motorists will reverse the detour. Anticipated completion May 4.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 15, 229, 694 – Mowing.
  • Route 611 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Routes 611, 624, 625, 633, 663, 666, 685, 720, 802  – Pavement patching.

 

Fauquier County

(UPDATE) Route 605 (Dumfries Road) – Roadway resurfacing from 0.4 mile west of Route 604

(Burwell Road) to the Prince William County line. Traffic reduced to one lane Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

(UPDATE) Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion late May.

  • Routes 55 west, 625, 656, 660, 685, 686, 690, 713, 720, 721, 773 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 605, 643 – Mowing.
  • Routes 628, 629, 638, 680, 681, 682, 683, 685, 688, 690, 691, 698, 702, 713, 721, 726, 732, 736, 762, 778, 779, 780, 792, 800 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 643, 657, 702, 738, F185 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Route 732 – Trimming.
  • Routes 738, 795, 1202 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

  • Routes 625, 685, 686, 773 – Pavement patching.

 

Greene County

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Tree removal work in the median. Northbound and southbound left lane closures may occur just north of Ruckersville. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

  • Routes 627, 633, 640, 810 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 1147 – Pipe install/repair.

 

Louisa County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 745, 753, 773 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Madison County

(NEW) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Tree removal work in the median. Northbound and southbound left lane closures may occur just south of Shelby. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Expect delays. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

 

Orange County

(NEW) Route 647 (Old Gordonsville Road) – Drainage pipe replacement. Road closed between Berry Hill Lane and approximately one mile south of the Town of Orange on Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should use an alternate route.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Route 33 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Routes 522, 614 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 609, 639, 644, 669, 669 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 671 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Rappahannock County

Route 615 (Turkey Ridge Road) – Repairs to bridge over Blackwater Creek. Road closed approximately two miles north of the intersection of Route 650 (Obannons Mill Road). Motorists should use an alternate route. Anticipated completion May 8.

(NEW) Route 647 (Crest Hill Road) – Roadway resurfacing between Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) and 2.3 miles east of Route 522. Traffic reduced to one laneTuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

  • Routes 600, 622, 626 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 680 – Pipe install/repair.
