Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alert: April 20-24

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper VDOT District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(UPDATE) Route 29/250 Bypass interchange – Lane restrictions may be in place on the Route 250 Bypass west between the Route 29 (Emmet Street) overpass and the Barracks Road exit between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. There may be lane closures on Emmet Street between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. while work is being done in the median. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes. Scheduled project completion May 2016.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent lane closures on Route 29 at Polo Grounds Road overnight Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Project will impact traffic on these cross streets:

  • At Timberwood Road – Intermittent lane closures overnight Monday and Tuesday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • At Airport Road – Eastbound right turn lanes closed overnight Sunday, April 19, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • At Towncenter Drive –Intermittent lane closures overnight Wednesday and Thursday, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • At Gander Drive – Intermittent lane closures overnight Thursday and Friday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion is October 2015.

Route 6 (Irish Road) – Roadway resurfacing from the Nelson County line to Route 626 (Langhorne Road). Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

(NEW) Route 606 (Dickerson Road) – Repairs to bridge over the North Fork Rivanna River. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured south on Route 29 (Seminole Trail) to Route 1571 (Lewis and Clark Drive), then right on Quail Run, which carries motorists back to Route 606. Anticipated completion Aug. 1.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 677 (Bloomfield Road) and Route 250 (Ivy Road). Anticipated completion Aug. 4.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 29, 600, 612, 640, 1120, 1121 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 29 south, 692, 728 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Routes 606, 643, 682, 683, 684, 688, 689, 707 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 620, 679, 722, 743, 1150 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 713 – Trimming.

 

Town of Culpeper

(UPDATE) Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur Monday through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Culpeper County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 15, 229, 694 – Mowing.
  • Route 611– Pipe install/repair.
  • Routes 616, 632 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 626, 628, 639, 640, 646, 669, 693, 713, 714 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 627, 632, 645, 646, 657, 666, 667, 685, 706, 720, 714, 802 – Pavement patching.

 

Fauquier County

(NEW) Route F-185 (Grove Lane) – Drainage pipe replacement. Road will be reduced to one lane on Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert and use caution in the work zone.

(NEW) Route 605 (Dumfries Road) – Roadway resurfacing from 0.4 mile west of Route 604 (Burwell Road) to the Prince William County line. Traffic reduced to one lane Wednesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion April 27.

  • Routes 55 west, 607, 609, 611, 612, 615, 616, 618, 625, 631, 632, 633, 639, 642, 652, 654, 674, 669, 691, 713, 720, 721, 743, 806, 813 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes F-185, 610, 657, 691, 731 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Routes F-273, 622, 629, 681, 682, 702, 704, 729, 731, 742 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

  • Routes 619, 620 – Pavement patching.

 

Greene County

(NEW) Route 627 (Bacon Hollow Road) – Drainage pipe replacement. Road closed between Route 615(Evergreen Church Road) and Route 810 (Dyke Road) on Tuesday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists should follow posted detour signs.

  • Routes 217, 640, 1156 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 627, 1147 – Pipe install/repair.

 

Louisa County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Route 605 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 651, 693, 773, 791 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Madison County

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Expect delays. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 616, 624, 673 – Pavement patching.

 

Orange County

(NEW) Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) – Shoulder repair and ditching just east of Route 678 (Governor Barbour Road). Westbound lane closed Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 33, 714 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 609, 639, 644 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 1053 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Rappahannock County

Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) – Roadway resurfacing between Route 635 (Hume Road) and the Warren County line. Traffic reduced to one lane Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

(NEW) Route 615 (Turkey Ridge Road) – Repairs to bridge over Blackwater Creek. Road closed approximately two miles north of the intersection of Route 650 (Obannons Mill Road). Motorists should use an alternate route. Anticipated completion May 8.

Route 629 (Bean Hollow Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Intermittent lane closures may occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers.

  • Routes 211, 231, 660, 707 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 615, 616, 680 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 615 – Pipe install/repair.
