Culpeper District Traffic Alerts: March 23-27

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Nighttime lane closures in the vicinity of Route 631 (Rio Road) for subsurface soil exploration. Expect lane closures between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

(UPDATE) Route 29/250 Bypass interchange – Entrance ramps from Route 29 (Emmet Street) southbound onto the Route 250 Bypass will be closed overnight Monday through Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for restriping lane markings and barrier installation. The right lane of Route 250 Bypass west will be closed from the Route 29 overpass to the Barracks Road exit, and the right lane of Route 29 will be closed from north of Angus Road to the Route 250 Bypass east entrance ramp. Bypass traffic will be detoured from Route 29 south to Barracks Road, then west to the Route 250 Bypass interchange. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes. Scheduled project completion May 2016.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent lane closures between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. at the Route 643 (Polo Grounds Road) intersection. Motorists should use an alternate route.

 

Albemarle County

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Guardrail and cable barrier work in median. Westbound left lane closed overnight Monday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. at mile marker 100.1 on Afton Mountain. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone.

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion is October 2015.

Route 6 (Irish Road) – Roadway resurfacing from the Nelson County line to Route 626 (Langhorne Road). Traffic reduced to one lane between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 677 (Bloomfield Road) and Route 250 (Ivy Road). Anticipated completion Aug. 4.

(NEW) Cricklewood Court, Birchcrest Lane and Echo Ridge Road – Rehabilitation of curb ramps and gutters in the Forest Lakes subdivision. Lane closures may be needed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. with traffic directed by flaggers.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 630, 633, 634, 636, 668, 672, 673, 674, 683, 684, 691, 721, 724, 736, 765, 766, 774, 821 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 606, 719 – Trimming.
  • Routes 640 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 708, 743 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Route 810 – Debris removal.

 

Town of Culpeper

Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Culpeper County

(NEW) Route 638 (Cherry Hill Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Intermittent lane closures may occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 601, 613, 617, 624, 636, 637, 650, 668, 676, 693, 710, 711, 749, 758, 775 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 603, 607, 608, 613, 642, 643, 644, 645, 685, 692, 715, 772, 1071, 1073, 1080 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 616 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 637 – Pipe replacement.

 

Fauquier County

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion April 27.

Route 723 (Ashville Road) – Repairs to bridge over Interstate 66. Intermittent lane closures may occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. for sign installation, with traffic controlled by flaggers.

  • Routes 17, 28, 55, 616, 622, 637, 644, 651, 688, 710, 712, 752, 758, 806, 837 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 602, 636, 659, 664, 674, 702, 703, 704, 705, 708, 710, 711, 715, 716, 720, 721, 724, 747, 769, 820, 823 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 638, 731 – Pipe replacement.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

 

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

  • Routes 6, 15 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 53, 631, 655 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

Greene County

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 230, 604, 622, 810, 1001 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 621, 624, 625, 626, 627, 629, 638, 642, 650, 676 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Louisa County

Route 22 (Louisa Road) – Roadway resurfacing from the Albemarle County line to Route 15 (James Madison Highway). Traffic reduced to one lane between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 613, 630, 636 – Pipe replacement.

 

Madison County

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Through late March, blasting operations may occur on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and will require a traffic stop of up to 15 minutes. Expect delays. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

  • Routes 603, 604, 606, 607, 641 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 609, 642, 648, 650, 651, 652, 670 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Orange County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

 

  • Routes 607, 609, 612, 629, 638, 644, 651 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 610, 641, 654, 655, 656, 676, 679, 732 – Machining of gravel roads.

Rappahannock County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 211, 604, 605, 614, 616, 618, 626, 627, 707, 729 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 211 west, 659 – Pipe replacement.

  • Route 660 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
