Culpeper District Traffic Alerts for July 27-31

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(UPDATE) Route 29/250 Bypass interchange – Contractor is performing excavation work near the ramp and grading in the median.

  • Sunday through Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., southbound Route 29 outside lane and ramp to westbound Route 250 Bypass closed for storm drain installation.
  • Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. intermittent left-turn lane closures will occur on Route 29 between Earhart Street and Hydraulic Road.
  • Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 4 p.m., outside lane closures may occur on westbound Route 250. Motorists should be alert for equipment entering and exiting the highway.

(UPDATE) Route 29 widening – Contractor is digging test holes to locate underground utilities on Route 29 between Polo Grounds Road and Ashwood Boulevard.

  • On Monday from 9 p.m. 6 a.m. the southbound right lane will be closed just south of Ashwood Drive.
  • On Wednesday from 9 p.m. 6 a.m. the southbound right lane will be closed just south of Towncenter Drive.
  • On Tuesday and Thursday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the southbound right lane will be closed just south of South Hollymead Drive.

(UPDATE) Rio Road grade-separated intersection – Utility relocation work will occur in the vicinity of the Rio Road intersection.

  • Monday through Friday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. alternating Route 29 northbound lanes and Route 29 southbound left-turn lane closed at the entrance to the Albemarle Square Shopping Center.
  • On Monday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Route 29 left lanes closed in each direction just north of the Fashion Square Drive.
  • On Monday, the Route 631 (Rio Road) entrance to Albemarle Square Shopping Center will be closed. Motorists should use the north entrance on Route 29.
  • On Wednesday, the Route 29 entrance to Albemarle Square Shopping Center will be closed. Motorists should use the entrance on Route 631 (Rio Road).
  • Tuesday through Friday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Route 29 northbound right lane closed from Fashion Square Drive to Rio Road.

(NEW) Rio Road – Sunday through Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., milling, paving and line striping work will be done on Rio Road from Route 29 to approximately 0.1 mile south of Hillsdale Drive. Motorists should be alert for lane closures and changes in the traffic pattern. Traffic through the work zone will be controlled and brief delays are likely.

 

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Deck resurfacing of I-64 bridge over Route 637 (Dick Woods Road). Alternating eastbound lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta County. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion Nov. 5.

(UPDATE) Route 20 (Scottsville Road) – Application of roadway sealant from just north of Route 6 (Irish Road) to Route 708 (Red Hill Road). Traffic reduced to one lane from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

(NEW) Route 20 (Stony Point Road) – Slope repair between Route 610 (Lonesome Mountain Road) and Route 649 (Proffit Road). Northbound lane closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

(NEW) Route 601 (Free Union Road) – Drainage pipe replacement under the roadway. Traffic reduced to one lane just south of Route 665 (Millington Road) from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution through the work zone.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

(NEW) Route 631 (Old Lynchburg Road) – Nighttime milling and paving work from Route 1870 (Ambrose Commons Drive) to 0.2 mile north of the Interstate 64 westbound overpass. Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging Sunday through Thursday. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 640 (Turkey Sag Road) – Paving and line striping from Route 20 (Stony Point Road) to 1.2 miles east of the intersection. Traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Route 677 (Broomley Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham-Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with southbound traffic detoured right onto Route 677 (Old Ballard Road), which will be narrowed to one lane near the intersection,then left onto Route 676/678 (Owensville Road) and out to Route 250 (Ivy Road). Northbound motorists will reverse the detour. Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained during the closure. Anticipated completion Nov. 16.

(NEW) Route 769 (Rocky Hollow Road) – Paving and line striping from Route 20 (Stony Point Road) to the end of state maintenance. Traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

(NEW) Route 1111 (Viewmont Court) – Paving and line striping from Route 1109 (Glenorchy Drive) to the end of state maintenance. Traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  

(NEW) Route 1150 (Mill Creek Drive) – Milling operations from Route 742 (Avon Street Extended) to Route 20 (Scottsville Road). Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Obey traffic controls.

(NEW) Route 1422 (Dorrier Drive) – Paving and line striping along route. Traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

(NEW) Route 1493 (Franklin Drive) – Paving and line striping from Route 20 (Stony Point Road) to the end of state maintenance. Traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

(NEW) Route 1315 (Commonwealth Drive) – Milling operations from Route 743 (Hydraulic Road) to Route 866 (Greenbrier Drive). Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday. Obey traffic controls.

(UPDATE) Various routes in the Forest Lakes South subdivision – Milling operations at the locations listed below. Traffic reduced to one lane with flagging from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday. Obey traffic controls.

  • Route 1743 (Acorn Hill Court) – From Route 1720 (Timberwood Parkway) to the end of state maintenance.
  • Route 1749 (Heather Glen Road) – From Route 1723 (Cross Timber Road) to the end of state maintenance.
  • Route 1752 (Timber Pointe Road) – From Route 1720 (Timberwood Parkway) to the end of state maintenance.
  • Route 1753 (Timber Meadows) – From Route 1720 (Timberwood Parkway) to the end of state maintenance.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 6, 250/654, 665, 1545 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Routes 29, 250, 640, 769 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 601 – Pipe installation/repair.
  • Routes 614, 675, 766 – Mowing.
  • Routes 627, 717 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Route 674 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Culpeper County

Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Preparatory work for roadway widening from Route 788 (Lignum Road) to Route 669 (Carrico Mills Road). Motorists should be alert for workers near the travel lanes and trucks entering and exiting the highway.

(NEW) Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Washing bridges along Route 3 corridor. Alternating lane closures will occur in each direction Monday through Friday. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Washing bridges along Route 15 corridor. Alternating lane closures will occur in each direction Monday through Friday. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(UPDATE) Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Placing stone along shoulder of recently paved road. Monday and Tuesday,7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., traffic will be reduced to one lane from Route 648 (Cedar Ridge Road) to approximately 0.1 mile south of Route 657 (General Winder Road). Traffic will be controlled by flagging and pilot truck.

Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Construction of new interchange at Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists should be alert and use caution through the work zone. Anticipated completion August 2017.

(NEW) Route 229 (Rixeyville Road) – Washing bridges along Route 229 corridor. Alternating lane closures will occur in each direction Monday through Friday. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

Route 655 (Somerville Road) – Grading and placing stone from Route 689 (Cedar Run Road) to Route 652 (Mitchell Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flagging.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 601, 617, 626, 671, 675, 692, 710, 721, 748 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 605, 619, 621, 650, 663, 670, 685, 698, 709, 716, 729, 749, 756, 1050, 1051 – Mowing.
  • Routes 629, 632, 633 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 647 – Pipe installation/repair.
  • Routes 650, 663, 749, 1045, 1046, 1047 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Routes 682, 1176, 1183 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

Fauquier County

(UPDATE) Interstate 66 – Repairs to Route 723 (Ashville Road) bridge over I-66. Alternating westbound lane closures will occur Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 2 p.m. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Route 15/29 (Lee Highway) – Milling of northbound lanes from approximately 0.1 mile north of Route 17 (Marsh Road) to just north of Route 880 (Lord Fairfax Road). Traffic will be reduced to one lane from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

(NEW) Route 17 (Marsh Road) – Washing bridges along Route 17 corridor. Alternating lane closures will occur in each direction Monday through Friday. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Route 28 (Catlett Road) – Washing bridge over Cedar Run near Weaversville. Alternating lane closures will occur in each direction Monday through Friday. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(UPDATE) Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Placing stone along shoulder of recently paved road. Westbound traffic reduced to one lane from the Culpeper County line to the town of Warrenton from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

Route 602 (Rogues Road) – Extension of right-turn lane at Kettle Run High School. Westbound lane closures may be needed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should use caution approaching the work zone and obey all traffic controls.

(UPDATE) Route 610 (Aquia Road) – Road closed to through traffic from 0.25 mile east of Route 616 (Bristersburg Road) to approximately one mile eastward between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Thursday. Motorists should use Route 609 (Courthouse Road) as the detour route.

Route 723 (Ashville Road) – Repairs to bridge over Interstate 66. Road closed at the bridge. Through traffic should follow posted detour signs and use caution in the work zone. Anticipated completion Aug. 1.

(NEW) Route 847 (Meyer Lane) – Drainage pipe replacement. Road closed Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Route 846 (Beaver Lodge Road) to the Stafford County line. Motorists should use Route 846 as the detour route.

 

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 17 N., 55 W, 215, 231, 600, 603, 628, 651, 652, 673, 674, 675, 692, 693, 694, 761, 1314 – Mowing.
  • Routes 245, 694, 732 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 602, 673, 674 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 673, 674, 715, 716, 735 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 681, 729 – Pipe installation/repair.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

  • Routes 6, 15, 660 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Routes 601, 603, 604, 610, 630 – Mowing.

(NEW) Various routes – Paving and line striping at the locations listed below. Traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

  • Route 608 (Stephens Loop) – From Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) to Route 633 (Dairy Road).
  • Route 633 (Dairy Road) – From Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) to Route 608 (Stephens Loop).
  • Route 637 (Octonia Road) – From Route 230 (Madison Road) to Route 1001 (Ford Avenue).
  • Route 640 (Watson Road) – From Route 633 (Dairy Road) to the end of state maintenance.
  • Route 645 (Jennings Loop/Moore Road) – From Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) to the end of state maintenance.
  • Route 652 (Sassafras Lane) – From Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) to the end of state maintenance.
  • Route 653 (Fairlane Drive) – From Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) to the end of state maintenance.

Louisa County

(NEW) Interstate 64 – Installation of pavement markers. Traffic reduced to one lane from mile markers 126 to mile marker 130 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday.

(NEW) Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Slope repair just north of Sommerfield Drive. Northbound lane closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

Route 22 (Louisa Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Monday through Friday, intermittent lane and shoulder closures will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. approximately 0.2 miles east of Route 613 (Oakland Road). Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

(NEW) Route 622 (Moody Town Road) – Inspection of Dike 3 at Lake Anna. Road closed daily Monday through Thursday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. from Route 701 (Eastham Road) and Route 1287 (Covenant Way). Motorists should use an alternate route.

  • Routes 632, 640, 649 – Mowing.
  • Route 658 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

Madison County

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

(NEW) Route 662 (Shelby Road) – Paving operations from Route 29 (Seminole Trail) to Route 621 (Seville Road). Traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

(NEW) Route 673 (Cedar Hill Road) – Paving operations from Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) to Route 29 Business (N. Main Street). Traffic reduced to one lane controlled by flagging and pilot truck from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect brief delays.

Orange County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 15 north, 20, 33, 231, 603, 604, 608, 610, 611, 619, 620, 621, 671, 672, 683, 701 – Mowing.
  • Routes 629, 630, 650, 671, 690 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 651 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

Rappahannock County

(NEW) Route 522 (Sperryville Pike) – Washing bridges along Route 522 corridor. Alternating lane closures will occur in each direction Monday through Friday. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

(NEW) Route 601 (Nethers Road) – Restoration of riverbank. Road closed just south of Route 707 (Sharp Rock Road) Tuesday through Thursday. Southbound motorists will be detoured right onto to Route 646 (Champe Plain Road), and then left onto Route 231 (South FT Valley Road), which carries traffic back to Route 601. Those traveling north on Route 601 will reverse the detour.

Route 622 (Aaron Mountain Road) – Preparatory work for paving of gravel roads. Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., the road will be closed from Route 626 (Long Mountain Road) to just east of the intersection. Motorists should use an alternate route.

(UPDATE) Route 637 (Jericho Road) – Replacement of bridge over Big Indian Run. Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flagging. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion May 2016.

  • Routes 231, 522, 615, 650 – Mowing.
  • Route 628 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
