Culpeper District Traffic Alerts: April 29-May 3

The following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

Albemarle County

Special Event Road Closure Route 601 (Garth Road) – Road closed to through traffic Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. between Route 658 (Barracks Farm Road) and Foxfield. Follow police direction and message boards. Expect heavy traffic in the area of the race course through 6 p.m.

(UPDATE) Interstate 64 – Westbound pavement patching operations between mile marker 114 and 107. Alternating lane closures Sunday through Friday between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Signal work at Route 1417 (Woodbrook Drive). Expect intermittent lane closures Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Business Route 250 (Ivy Road) – Blasting operations under VDOT permit. Expect brief, intermittent road closures between the ramp to Route 29/250 and the Charlottesville City limits Monday through Friday at approximately 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. daily.

(NEW) Route 601 (Free Union Road) – Pipe replacement between Route 678 (Ridge Road) and Route 829 (Horseshoe Bend Road). Road closed to through traffic Monday through Saturday, May 4. Use posted detour.

(NEW) Route 692 (Plank Road) – Pipe replacement near Route 635 (Craigs Store Road). Expect lane closures Monday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Route 1521 (Timberwood Parkway) – Hollymead Dam Reinforcement Project. Northbound lane closed under VDOT permit from Shadybrook Trail to Cove Pointe Road. Follow signed detour.

(NEW) Various Routes – Rumble strip installation at locations listed below. Be alert for slow moving mobile operation Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

· Route 20 (Stony Point Road) between Route 621 (Wolf Trap Road) and Route 649 (Proffit Road)

· Route 250 (Ivy Road) between Route 1641 (West Leigh Drive) and Farmington Drive.

· Route 250 (Rockfish Gap Turnpike) between the Nelson County line and Route 796 (Brooksville Road).

· Route 250 (Rockfish Gap Turnpike) between Route 240 (Three Notched Road) and Route 676 (Tilman Road).

Culpeper County

Route 643 (South Merrimac Road) – Resurfacing operations from Route 29 (James Monroe Highway) to Route 603 (White Shop Road). Expect lane closures controlled by flagging Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fauquier County

(NEW) Interstate 66 – Pavement patching operations in both directions between mile marker 15 and 26 and eastbound between mile marker 29 and 36. Expect lane closures Monday through Wednesday.

Route 15/17/29 (Eastern Bypass) – Construction of grade-separated interchange near Route 880 (Lord Fairfax Road):

· Through early August, drivers should expect daytime lane closures on Business Route 15/17/29. The inside left turn lane from northbound Route 15/17/29 to northbound Business Route 15/17/29 may also be closed during the day.

· The contractor will maintain 11-foot travel lanes with barrier in place in both directions for the majority of the project.

(NEW) Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Resurfacing operations from town of Warrenton limits to the Culpeper County line. Expect lane closures Monday from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Use caution when traveling through work zones.

(UPDATE) Route 600 (Broad Run Church Road) – Preparation for resurfacing operations. Expect lane closures Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Route 603 (Bastable Mill Road) – Resurfacing operations from Route 667 (Old Dumfries Road) and the Prince William County line. Expect lane closures Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Route 610 (Midland Road) – Resurfacing operations between Route 648 (Ebenezer Church Road) and Route 806 (Elk Run Road). Alternating lane closures controlled by flagging Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

(NEW) Route 624 (Lost Corner Road) – Railroad crossing work under VDOT permit near Route 713 (Maidstone Road). Road closed to through traffic. Follow detour Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

(UPDATE) Route 643 (Eustace Road) – Rehabilitating bridge over Licking Run. Traffic using temporary road near existing bridge. Use caution in work zone.

Route 656 (Remington Road) – Resurfacing operations from Route 1203 (Franklin Street) to Route 853 (Station Drive). Expect lane closures Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Route 880 (Lord Fairfax Road) – Shoulder closures in both directions near Route 15/17/29 (Eastern Bypass) for Warrenton Southern Interchange project. Expect intermittent flagging operations for material and equipment delivery at construction office. Be alert for workers near the travel lanes Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fluvanna County

(NEW) Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Installation of rumble strips between Route 6 (West River Road) and Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway). Expect delays from mobile work zone Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

(NEW) Route 250 (Richmond Road) – Installation of rumble strips between the Albemarle County line and Route 600 (Paynes Mill Road). Expect delays from mobile work zone Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Route 629 (Deep Creek Road) – Rehabilitating bridge over Middle Fork Kent Branch near Route 631 (Dogwood Drive). Road closed to through traffic. Follow signed detour. Anticipated completion Oct. 2019.

Greene County

(NEW) Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) – Shoulder repairs between Route 638 (Turkey Ridge Road) and the park entrance. Alternating lane closures Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

(NEW) Route 637 (Octonia Road) – Pipe replacement 1.3 miles from Route 230 (Madison Road) and 0.75 mile from Route 621 (South River Road). Road closed to through traffic April 29-May 10. Follow detour.

Route 743 (Advance Mills Road) – Resurfacing operations between Route 644 (Cedar Grove Road) and the Albemarle County line. Alternating lane closures controlled by flagging operations. Expect delays Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Louisa County

(NEW) Various Routes – Rumble strip installation at locations listed below. Be alert for slow moving mobile operation Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

· Route 33 (Jefferson Highway) between Route 605 (Shannon Hill Road) and the Hanover County line

· Route 250 (Three Notch Road) between Route 613 (Pointdexter Road) and Route 605 (Shannon Hill Road)

· Route 522 (Cross County Road) between Route 663 (Owens Creek Road) and Route 601 (Orchid Road)

Madison County

(NEW) Route 631 (Leon Road) – Paving operation between Route 29 (Seminole Trail) and Route 630 (Thoroughfare Road). Alternating lane closures controlled by flagging Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

(UPDATE) Route 634 (Oak Park Road) – Resurfacing operations between Route 616 (Carpenters Mill Road) and Route 744 (Happy Hills Lane). Alternating lane closures Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Rappahannock County

Route 211/522 (Lee Highway) – Westbound bridge replacement over the North Fork Thornton River. Westbound right lane on bridge is open to traffic. Expect left lane closures through the end of the month for removal of the temporary crossover.
