Technological advancements and consumer demands are driving manufacturing companies to come up with innovative products with new features. You can find faucets of unbelievable styles and technologies these days. Some of the modern kitchens are fully automated as well.

Besides the design and features, what make a faucet labeled as good quality are the materials with which it is made. When you are looking for new bathroom accessories, you will have to choose one based on the following factors:

  • Resilience
  • Cohesive style
  • Affordability

Silvery polished chrome continues to be the top choice for fixtures among people. There are many other attractive options available in a myriad of colors, styles and metals.

Excellent quality bathroom fixtures are available in an US based online store Hausera. Their products cover different shapes and styles required to complete the look of your bathroom and kitchen.

Materials used for faucet body:

There are plastic and metal fixtures that are coated with different finishes and so what matters more is the material of the faucet body. A good quality faucet should be considerably heavy. All metal fixtures consist lead which would likely leech into water. Even lead-free versions have low levels of lead. There are regulations requiring manufacturers to lower lead levels.

Brass: They are quite expensive but worth every penny and are a solid bet. Professionals highly recommend brass due to its durability. Brass is sturdy and there won’t be issues with water leakage for years. A polished brass faucet looks sophisticated and easy to maintain and clean. Its matte finish complements contemporary bathrooms.

Zinc: It is a less expensive option compared to brass. It tends to corrode easily due to constant contact with water and would have to be replaced once in a while.

Stainless steel: Plain steel is cheap but rusts very soon when in contact with water making it a bad candidate for faucet body. Stainless steel is pricier than brass but has the same durability of brass. The extra cost doesn’t bring more benefits when compared to brass.

Plastics: Being the least expensive option, the durability quotient suffers. They are the only ones that don’t contain lead though.

Different faucet finishes:

  • Chrome: This popular finish is versatile and complements many styles. It isn’t too expensive whilst being scratch-resistant. Though it protects the outer faucet body, if the material of the faucet body is inferior, the inner part is susceptible to corrosion and cracks.
  • Nickel: Polished nickel surfaces cost more but their rich gold tone gives it a more exotic appearance than chrome. Matt nickel finishes are great at hiding fingerprints and water droplets and hence doesn’t require vigorous cleaning.
  • Bronze: Bronze is available in three tones – polished, brushed and oil rubbed. The tones differ in texture and looks. Bronze finishes that come with PVD coatings are resistant to scratches and corrosion.
  • Brass: High end look can be achieved at a reasonable price with brass. Maintenance is high as the metal should be polished regularly to prevent tarnish.

Prioritize quality over prize when choosing bathroom faucets. A good quality faucet is long-lasting and doesn’t require frequent replacement.
