washington nationalsColorado took control after a lengthy rain delay in a 6-2 win over Washington Tuesday night at Coors Field.

The game was stopped in the fourth for a two hour and five minute delay, which wiped out starters Gio Gonzalez and Chad Bettis, and sent the game to both bullpens.

The Nats pen was touched up for four runs on five hits and four walks in five innings of work.

Yusmeiro Petit (3-3, 3.25 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) took the loss, giving up a run on three hits in three innings of relief.

Anthony Rendon (.267/.349/.451, 15 HR, 54 RBI) was 3-for-4, and Daniel Murphy (.348/.388/.611, 22 HR, 87 RBI) was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

The Nationals (70-48) have an eight and a half game lead on Miami (62-57) in the NL East.
