Cole Custer claims the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 pole for Saturday’s Xfinity race from BMS
Cole Custer came flying out of the final twelve positions to be decided in Xfinity Series qualifying to take the pole in the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 race to be held Saturday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway.
The driver of the Haas Automation Ford took the top spot with a 127.157 mph qualifying run after John Hunter Nemechek dominated the first two rounds of qualifying. Nemechek, driving in the Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet Camaro usually driven by MENCS regular Kyle Larson, took fifth place in the final round of qualifying.
Justin Allgaier driver of the #7 Suave for Men Chevrolet qualified second with Christopher Bell coming in third. Daniel Hemric driver of the #21 South Point Casino Chevrolet qualified fourth.
Rounding out the top 10 qualifiers, Brandon Jones in the #19 Menards/TurtleWax Toyota placed sixth, Ryan Preece in seventh, Shane Lee in the Childress Vineyards Chevrolet in eighth, Spencer Gallagher in ninth and Austin Cindric in the #22 Fitzgerald Glider Kit Ford in 10th.
Qualifying was slowed due to wrecks in the beginning of round qualifying involving NASCAR veteran Morgan Shepherd who tagged the wall twenty six seconds into Round One qualifying and Ryan Seig, who crashed on the front stretch in the second round. Shephered would record a DNQ (Did Not Qualify) and would be eliminated from the starting grid. Seig will roll off 20th if his Lombardi Brothers Gaming Chevrolet can be made race ready before the 1:00 PM start.
The Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 begins at 1:00 PM from The World’s Fastest Half-Mile, Bristol Motor Speedway followed by the NASCAR K&N Series Zombie Auto 150 at 4:00 PM.
