Chris Graham: SnyderMania
Lots of buzz over the news that the Washington Redskins are preparing to trade away their next several drafts – actually, just three first-rounders and a second-rounder – for the right to pick whichever quarterback the Indianapolis Colts leave on the table in next month’s NFL Draft.
Ostensibly, then, the ‘Skins will end up with RGIII, otherwise known as Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III from Baylor, expected to go second after Indy takes Andrew Luck from Stanford with the first pick.
Oh, and for good measure, NFL insiders are reporting that Washington is still in the market for former Colts QB Peyton Manning, only the most coveted free agent in NFL history.
And so here we go again, Redskins fans. It’s hard to fault Danny Snyder for trying. He signed Bruce Smith and Deion Sanders thinking that he was still playing fantasy football. Then he lured Joe Gibbs back from NASCAR. That was after the Steve Spurrier fiasco and before the current Mike Shanahan rough patch.
Go ahead and fully expect the ‘Skins to take RGIII and sign Manning. If you do anything other than also fully expect the moves to not work out, you’re deluding yourselves.
