cho logoThe Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO) had another record-breaking year of passenger traffic in calendar year 2014, surpassing the total amount of passengers in 2013 by 31,044.

An estimated 493,506 passengers passed through the airport in 2014, according to data from the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport Authority.

Melinda Crawford, CHO’s Executive Director remains extremely optimistic about the current state of the airport. “CHO’s growing passenger traffic continues to be a reflection of the strong market we serve. So thank you, local travelers. With your support, CHO is providing improved amenities and an expanded terminal, and all of this is being done with zero dollars from local tax payers. ”

“CHO contributes about $128 million dollars to the economic growth of our community each year and is also responsible for about 1200 jobs” said Jason Burch, Director of Air Service and Marketing for the airport. “We have faced many challenges over the last year. We watched a low cost airline enter and leave the market. We have enjoyed the benefits as our legacy airlines continue to reinvest into our community with more capacity. We even have two airlines serving one destination (New York LGA) for the first time in our history, which is very exciting and excellent for our passengers”.
