Chesapeake Conservancy awarded 4-star Charity Navigator rating

chesapeake conservancyChesapeake Conservancy announced that Charity Navigator, America’s largest, most utilized, independent evaluator of charities, awarded the Annapolis-based nonprofit with the coveted 4-star rating for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.

Charity Navigator’s ratings place Chesapeake Conservancy as one of the top five charities in conservation operating in Maryland, with an overall score of 91.7 out of 100 points.  The rating indicates that the Conservancy executes its missions in a fiscally responsible way while adhering to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities.

“We couldn’t be more proud of our 4-star rating from Charity Navigator,” said Chesapeake Conservancy President and CEO Joel Dunn. “As folks start to think about the charities they’d like to support on ‘Giving Tuesday’ and their year-end gifts, we’re very proud that our donors and potential donors can be assured that we will be good stewards of their investments to conserve and restore the natural and cultural resources of the Chesapeake for current and future generations.”

“This is a huge achievement for our relatively young and effective organization,” said Chesapeake Conservancy Director of Development Melissa Ehrenreich. “As Oprah Magazine noted, Charity Navigator is the “Michelin Guide” to nonprofit organizations for prospective donors. We’re very grateful to our generous donors and partners who helped us reach this milestone.”
