Charlottesville Reading Series announces authors, musicians for December event

Charlottesville Reading SeriesThe Charlottesville Reading Series will host a prose reading and musical performance on Friday, December 14, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at New Dominion Bookshop in Charlottesville.

The event will feature an in-person reading by Helen Chandler and original music by Sam Bush of The Hill and Wood. The event is free to attend, and complimentary refreshments will be available at intermission.

Helen Chandler is an Irish writer living in Charlottesville and a graduate of the University of Virginia’s MFA program. Her work has appeared in Lithub, The Stinging Fly, Tammy, and The Tangerine, among other places. She is at work on a book of nonfiction about her many aunts. Sam Bush has been writing songs as the leader of folk/rock band The Hill and Wood for ten years. Their latest release, When You Go, appeared in January 2017. He is the Music Minister at Christ Episcopal Church and director of The Garage. His latest project was an album of hymns entitled Songs of Comfort.
