generalsAll the scoring in Friday night’s Charles Town-Waynesboro game came in the sixth inning. The Generals scored a run in the top of the sixth on a Steve Pollakov double. The Cannons responded with a fivespot in their half and coasted from there to a 5-1 win.

The loss was the fourth in six games for Waynesboro (12-5), which has fallen into second place in the Valley League standings.

Three hits, three walks, a wild pitch and a passed ball contributed to the big inning for Charles Town (9-7), chasing starter Marcus Shippey (sophomore, Shippensburg), who took the loss to fall to 0-2 on the season after giving up four runs, all earned, on nine hits in five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking two.

Jacob Anthony (2-0) got the win for Charles Town, giving up a run on six hits in six innings, striking out five and walking two.

Waynesboro returns home Saturday night to host the Aldie Senators at Kate Collins Field. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
