Champion snowboarder, brain injury survivor to speak at JMU
Kevin Pearce, a former professional snowboarder and cofounder of LoveYourBrain Foundation, will speak 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 4 in Room 2301 of the EnGeo Building on the JMU campus east of Interstate 81.
Pearce was a contender for the gold medal in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, but suffered a traumatic brain injury while training for the Olympic trials in 2009. Following the accident, Pearce became an advocate for preventing brain injuries and for promoting brain healthy lifestyles.
The program, presented by the JMU Occupational Therapy Program, is free and open to the public. A Q&A session will follow Pearce’s talk.
