Can your fines at your local library

newspaperIt’s that time of year again, where library patrons can swap canned goods for their overdue fines.

From now through Jan. 5, 2019, patrons of all three Valley Libraries have the opportunity to bring in cans of food that will benefit the local Blue Ridge Area of Food bank. Donations may include non-expired goods such as cereal, peanut butter, canned meats, canned soups, boxed mac & cheese, pasta and rice, and paper products. Glass items cannot be accepted.

Each donated item will waive a single fine for overdue materials. Please note that this does not include the cost of lost items or collection agency fees. Donations will be accepted at any Augusta County Library location (Churchville, Craigsville, Deerfield, Fishersville, Middlebrook, and Stuarts Draft), at the Staunton Public Library and at the Waynesboro Public Library.

For questions and information, contact the Augusta County Library at 540-885-3961 or 540-949-6354, the Staunton Public Library at (540) 332-3902, and the Waynesboro Public Library at (540) 942-6746.
