Bridgewater College names new director of human resources
Harper comes to Bridgewater from Sentara Healthcare, where her duties as human resources manager for total rewards included oversight of the employee benefits and compensation administration, payroll, and the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) for Sentara RMH.
At Bridgewater, Harper will oversee all human resources functional areas to include recruitment, hiring, compensation, benefit administration, HRIS, faculty-staff and student payroll, budget and employee relations.
A graduate of James Madison University, Harper earned her bachelor of science in business administration as well as certifications as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Human Resources Certification Institute and Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from the Society for Human Resources Management.
In addition to Sentara Healthcare, Harper has worked in human resources leadership roles at the Winchester firms of National Fruit Product Co. and Shenandoah Valley Westminster-Canterbury, and at Sunnyside Communities and Comsonics, both in Harrisonburg.
Harper is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, the Shenandoah Valley Society for Human Resources Management and the Virginia Society for Health Care Human Resources Management. She is former chair of the Shenandoah Valley Workforce Investment Board.
Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to more than 1,800 undergraduate students.
